I see no one here mentioned Swiftwick - love their socks. I have some that are merino and some that are not. They make different kinds of socks for different kinds of people. I have always expected socks to last FOREVER. But I have found that with my running socks, this is probably not going to be the case. I agree, they are pricey, but they get a workout too. I never put mine in the dryer. Don't know if that helps or not.

I like Feetures, Wrightsock, and Smartwool. But there are so many quality sock companies, it might be easier to single out specific socks for a bit of shame. Examples: I agree that Balega wear out quickly. I've never found Injinji and other toe socks to work for me. I've tried several waterproof socks - none comfortable.

I don't understand the complaint about being unable to find Bombas nearby. Just order online. That said, I don't like the company's premise: I don't want to pay inflated prices so they can send socks to a shelter. I'm not heartless. Rather, I want to manage my own donations (and keep the tax deduction rather than letting the company keep it).

But there are benefits to buying locally. Besides supporting local retailers, I can sometimes buy irregulars at bargain prices. Expect to see sales on winter socks right about now.

Vermont Darn Tough socks are the first socks that I've tried that have wool in them. Of course, it's winter now so they feel great. I'm looking forward to wearing them in the warmer months. I wear Smart Wool socks frequently when I wear my clogs (Dansko),
I definitely agree that good socks are important. I guess that's why I was bummed when the Balega socks didn't last.

I wear Balega and Smartwool. We don't have a running store in town so I order from Amazon.

Anytime that you are on your feet a lot, be it working or hiking or running, socks and shoes are no place to be cheap. I do all of these things and I always lean toward socks with as much natural wool content as possible.

For running, socks with merino wool content are available from Smartwool and Feetures, to name a few.

I grew up hiking in Wigwam wool socks, and this company is still my very favorite for hiking, walking and working socks.

Which brand and style of running socks do you like and why? I like Feetures with the tab. They're comfortable and seem to wear well.
I tried Balega but the two pairs that I had wore out quickly and the fit was just ok.
I had one pair of Bombas; they were ok but wore out quicker than I had hoped. Also, I can't find them near me.
I REALLY like Stance, however they're a bit pricey and are difficult to find near me. I can buy them online but I'd need to buy three pairs to make it worthwhile. .

I just tried a pair of Darn Tough Vermont socks. So far, they're great but they cost $16!!!

What do you like?
