Our last Birthday is 12/21 so that would be cutting it a little close.

Good tradition though.

Our tree goes up after the last birthday, so we can finally put it up, if we can ever find time in our schedule. It has been crazy with all the activities on the calendar. We have an angel on top of our tree, not a star, and it's usually my oldest son who puts it on when he puts on the lights. Everyone helps put ornaments. We usually take the tree down sometime in the first part of January.

We always put our tree up every year the first weekend of December. The kids always make new ornaments to add on to it each year. We draw names to see who gets to put the topper on. We go all out and put as many lights and tinsel as we can. The kids like to throw fake snow on it, just to give it a little added love.

One year, we put the tree up but waited until the grandkids got here to decorate it. I love lots or ornaments also and year before last, framed small photos of our family and put them on the tree. It was amazing. I do have the photos back out and am seriously thinking of put them back on this year. DH, however, is a little more conservative.

Our daughter puts up the tree when she finishes University for the year so it can be November, we love christmas and have kept ornaments from when we first arrived in Australia. We didn't bring much from NZ, so my son 5 then and i made some for a little tree, as the years have passed we have added ones to our collection and we love lots of ornaments and lights. We put the presents under the tree as we get them.

It comes down just before she goes back to uni its her last year in 2013, then she will graduate medicine and start 2014 as an intern. So maybe anew tradition will start.

Happy Christmas and holidays to you all
Christine

We don't have any traditions about when we put the tree up but when we do, we always have some Chili, Chicken Noodle or some kind of soup simmering on the stove. We put up the tree yesterday and enjoy a pot of Ham and Beans with Cornbread when we were finished.

I was not going to put up the big tree this year but the more I thought about it, the more I just felt I wanted it up. I also put a small tree (with Sunflower Ornaments) in my dining room and a Yellow Tree (in honor of our Soldier who won't be home this year) in our sun room.

I will work on one of those trees tomorrow. Hope everyone has a GREAT week.

No special day to put the tree up. When the kids were young and we did a live tree, we usually put it up 5 to 7 days before so it would stay fresh longer. We would take it down usually on the day after New Year's. It would depend on the condition of the tree.

Now because I do handcrafting as a business, and sew for friends and family, the tree can go up anytime we can fit it in but almost always at least 5 days before Christmas.

The decorating inside is up to me, except where I can't reach. DH helps with the outside of which we do not have done yet. The outside snowman needs some repair. Hoping to get things done this week.

Good morning everyone,

This morning I was working out whether to put the tree up this year. In our family, the Christmas tree does not go up until the last birthday of the year and now all birthdays have finished. But this year it will only be DH and myself. The grandchildren will be interstate with other side families this year. It has been a long time since we had a real one, it is just a tinsile kind of tree, which leaves a mess, but I do like the lights flashing at night.

What traditions do you have about the Christmas tree? Do you put it up early, or like some countries on Christmas Eve? Does any of your family members have the honour of putting the star on top? When we have the tree up, it is up until the 6th January. Do you have a special day when it is dismantled?

Have a joyful week

Sandra / Cara
