WOW!

Not sure what happened here but I totally lost it and am now HEAVILY paying the price. Between the remodel of the kitchen, my brother's illness, then the holiday's I have gained 10 lbs! I am so horrified that I am going to round out 2019 up and am now going to try to use these last 15 days to at least gain control of the situation here.

As of today I am recommitting to my weight loss plan and will do my very best to 1) not gain another ounce and 2) see if I can lose some of this by the end of the year!

I absolutely WILL be starting this thread back up in January as well and I will get back to where I was.....

Have a good day ladies!

Maryanne

I closed my account and re-opened it. I dont know why I do that... I guess I hate to see dips and failures even though those are also just part of a larger journey. But I did.. so here I am. I'm at 155 which is better than I was last year but I've only been maintaining this year. I want to really give it a go again.

Took Elvis for a walk this morning. It is hot already! Maybe later I will go again. But for now, I am home with the AC running.

Elizabeth, sounds like it was a FUN weekend.

I went to WW and they nicely confirmed I am 3 lbs over my goal limit which translates to actually being up 5 lbs. I have to lose that 3 asap and until I do, I have to pay them 14.95 a week. So I'm reeeeeeeeeeally trying to figure out how I can drop that 3 pounds this week. I'm really going to try and drink an extra bottle of water a day and no snacking. Lots of chicken on the menu this week. sigh...........

Well I was on the Cape this weekend. Where I ate fried clams, clam chowder, french fries, jelly beans, cheese, cupcakes, and dairy queen. I guess the scallops weren't too bad for me. I did thankfully go for a 3 mile run but otherwise pretty decadent and yes the scale was up this morning but it was a fun weekend. Back to reality today.

That's a lot of milk!

I did not eat well at the ballpark last night. Fries, grilled chicken sandwich, pretzel, and ice cream. UGH! Today is a new day.

No matter how much I eat for dinner I always seemed to want to have 'something' afterwards......so last year I decided to replace the 'cheese or cookie or chips' with something else. I ended up getting some sugar free jello cups and fat free cool whip. Ever since that day, I always keep some in the house. Just in case I HAVE to have something......that's what I go for. Nowadays my go to item is grapes. Too bad I didn't heed THAT advice while I was in Old Orchard..........I pushed those grapes aside as I was going for the milk to add to the Kahlua! Bad Maryanne.......just bad.

I am the exact same way Janine.

I don't eat enough in the day and then I nibble at night. Last night I found some m&ms as well as a cheese stick.

I do okay until the night lately and then I find things to binge on. Saltines, Pirate Booty, fruit, cheese, yogurt. I need to just go to bed when I feel the need to eat. I know it is an old habit when I was in school at night and would eat to stay awake.

Gotta love the bread basket.

Finally got the ears pierced last night and we went to PF Changs. Ate probably a little too much but it was delish. Fun to be out with the girls. And in the end both nieces got their ears pierced. Mom said it was okay.

NIce job Janine! I always have a tough time when I go out. I plan ahead and somehow the stupid bread basket always lands in front of me....

Nancy - How nice having a surprise party and getting to see people you haven't seen in awhile. Nice way to spend the holiday.

Elizabeth - I didn't realize it was 50 people! Holy Cow!! That's a lot of entertaining. I can't believe you ran on Saturday - You are so good.

I've been doing great with the walking. I walked every day while at the beach except for the Saturday I left. But walked Sunday/Monday and Tuesday as well. No time this morning but am planning to walk again tomorrow and Friday depending on weather.

Scale has moved slightly but ugh, just got the first hit from WW and it was 14.95. Now I'll actually GO to my meeting on Saturday and will have to pay again. I'm praying I can manage to get the weight down enough after that but as of right now I'm still up 5 lbs. Just need to stay focused and like Janine said, refrain from indulging...

How'd it go with the ear piercing?

I went to a Mexican restaurant yesterday. Ordered their lunch bowl with rice, black beans, steak, lettuce, and tomatoes (no cheese) was good. There was no dressing either so that worked well. Today I am having lunch with other friends. I know I will have a cobb salad and I think a side of fruit. I do love their chicken wings, but will refrain from indulging.

Well I ate lots of leftovers this weekend. Ice cream and blueberry pie and chips. Not much nutrition. We had over 50 people for the 4th.

Did go for a run on Saturday. It was pitiful. It was just TOO hot!

I just don't want to see 200+ like I did last summer.
It was hard this week because I had to plan and cook for 20 guests for July 3rd and July 4th - a surprise 80th birthday for my husband.
It was a lot of fun to see relatives we hadn't seen in years.

Good Afternoon.

Just got back from vacation and wow.....I had myself a reeeeeal party. Kahula was my best friend while on vacation and UGH. Got home around 12:00 and stepped on the scale to see that I am up 10 lbs? Granted it was noon and I had already tanked down a bunch of water and what not but I figure when it all balances out I'll be up a good 6-7 lbs. I'll have to pay at WW for the next 2 weeks and well, it could be 3 weeks but I can't allow that. I am going to have to pay the strictest of attention to the intake of food AND the exercise. While away I was up every day at 5:00 - 5:30 and walking before 7:00. That MUST continue. The plan is to get up in the morning and get out there for a 3 mile walk. I MUST commit to at least 4 days a week, 5 if I can push myself.

I will remind myself that what's done is done. No going backwards and only forward......the past is just that, the past. Can't get it back but honestly, I will relive the FUN memories I had because this truly was one of the best weeks in Old Orchard we've had in years. Even with none of the kids there, we just had a fabulous time. It's so fun now because we typically have all the same neighbors and are now best friends with a couple from Canada. Only problem.....it sort of stinks that now we won't see them till next year.

Ok, off to plan my menu for the week. Somehow I don't think Kahula is going to make the list....good thing because it's all gone! HA HA HA HA HA

Okay - not sure where March went but ready to attack April. Starting the month at 135. So my goal is 125 by June 17th (my birthday). Let's see how I do. I am eating salt like crazy since I am not having sweets.

I think we are all going to have a great month!

I need to stop going crazy over the weekend! I eat all this crap and then spend the entire week working it off and do not gain anything out of it.

Again today I'm about the same weight as I was last week. So disappointed in myself because I really wanted to drop that pound to be UNDER my goal. Going to try again and now that the weather is warming up a bit I hope to get out more.

GOAL - MUST LOSE 4 LBS BY APRIL 30, 2019!!!!

Really good week/weigh in. Went on Friday and was down 1.2 lbs. I won't lie, every day is a struggle. Normally I can get into the groove and things move right along but wow, these last 2 months have just been plain frustrating. The past two weeks has had me watching every single ounce going in my mouth and practically sitting on my hands to not touch anything not on my carefully planned menu. Just hoping things get a little easier going forward.

Have a good week

I finally went back to WW. I was down .6 which, considering what MY scale showed last Monday....I'll take it.

I feel like I am a bit more focused but wow, it's been hard. My goal for next Saturday is to be down 1 lb and believe me, this is all still ABOVE my actual WW goal. Right now I am 1.4 above my goal (can't be more than 2) So of course the goal is 1.4 but I'm trying to be realistic and just focus on losing 1 crummy little pound for next week.

Someone on one of the WW facebook sites said she bought the sugar free chocolate frosting in a can (Pillsbury). She has 1 spoonful when she gets the urge for chocolate. I'm skeptical of what it would taste like but several others have said it's actually pretty good and does the trick when craving chocolate. Who knows...

Have a great day!

More back on track today. I did NOT eat any chocolate although I wanted to. Funny how I didn't crave sugar when I didn't eat it, but I want nothing but when I do indulge.

Good for you on your steps! Keep it up.

I didn't make it to WW. Was disappointed that I didn't really get my act together all weekend. I at least got my 10,000 steps in each day but need to do more than that.

Good for you Elizabeth! Congrats and good luck at WW

Janine - I hear ya on getting back on track. That's my goal as well.

I didn't go to WW - getting ready to start work here for hopefully only 2 hours and then a few errands. Hoping to play with the new Air Fryer this weekend and try it out. Also need to do some serious food prep for the week. I MUST get back on track and start losing.....the clock towards Spring is moving fast!

I am hopeful to be able to remove sugar again. It really made a huge difference for me and I was able to lose 8 lbs in 10 days! I also had less pain and a lot less bloating!

I am still up. I'm within my goal range but up like 3-4 lbs. It's been about 3 months and I just cannot lose it. I drop a pound and yet by the time the weekend comes I have gained it back.....then spend the entire week trying to lose it again and round and round we go. I just can't stay steady.

I agree about Lent - shooting for no chocolate! and much better eating.

Something has to be done because I agree, February was not a good month.

BUT OK - It's now March - a fresh new month and we can all make some small changes and / or get back on track........... WE CAN DO THIS!

Finally back from all my traveling and trying to catch up. Stepped on the scale. All the candy I have been eating is there! February was not a good month! So happy that Lent starts on Wednesday. It is a built-in incentive for me not to eat sweets.

Hope you all are doing better than me.

Hi! I guarantee I have been worse than both of you. We are at my Dad's and we made a stop at the Dollar Tree. Don't do that when you are hungry. I bought candy. And then I ate it! Oh well tomorrow is another day.

Good Luck today

I was down 1.6 lbs. I was shooting for 2 lbs but will take it. I got my next 8 week activation code and didn't have to pay WW. Next goal for 2/23 is to be down 1 more lb. I just need to stay focused! tee hee hee, after tonight's dinner because I KNOW wine and pasta will be involved.

That's ok Janine - one has to live their life but interesting about the bloating. That's exactly what my friend said. Whenever she overindulges in bread she feels very bloated and has stomach issues. She's been trying to limit them and is considering looking into gluten free bread to see if she can narrow things down. You have been doing great so just get right back at it and you'll be fine.

I'm going to WW at around 6:30 this morning and am praying I lost enough weight. I got on my scale this morning but got two different readings. One was good but the other one was still in the danger zone of being up too much. Sigh, I really need to invest in a better scale. This one you can get on it 3 times in a span of 5 minutes and be three different weights.

Fingers crossed - I worked really hard this week and will be disappointed if I don't see a difference at the scale.

I'll report back later

I was doing well. I did notice a change in energy and I felt like the bloating was far less than ever before. Then I ate pizza, 3 slices over 3 days. And some fries with ketchup. And some honey-roasted nuts (only a few). But I see the bloat is back AND I put back on 1 of the 8 lbs I lost! Back to what was working. Except tonight. I ate a burger, bun and all.

Good for you Elizabeth! I am down 8 lbs in the last 2 weeks due to the detox. I did indulge in some pizza over the weekend, but overall I have kept the eating regime going. I am glad the pizza is gone!

The closest Planet Fitness is out of my way a bit. I was going to the gym for years, but had to stop why I had all the sciatic pain. I hope to get back there at some point this year.

I go to Planet Fitness in Dedham. I like it because it's only 10.00 a month so I'm not wasting a ton of money when I don't go. I will go a few times a week from now till probably April and then I prefer to walk outside. I MUST do something thou.

I had to take my cousin back and forth today for a procedure so I wasn't able to take lunch and get out and walk - so sad because it's beautiful outside. I have a 5:00 appointment so can't go after work either. Tomorrow I plan to go to the gym in the morning and then if it's nice / dry at lunchtime I may get out for a walk since the temps are going to be so warm.

Are you going to the Pat's parade?

WOW to both of you!!! That's fabulous!

Elizabeth - congrats to doing so well in January. You've made great progress and I know you can keep going. I bought girl scout cookies this year and promptly gave the 2 boxes to the two girls selling them. I decided I simply cannot have them in the house.

Janine -You are doing it the right way! Consulting/working with the doctor. AND if you do start feeling better you may want to consider doing what my friend did (she also worked with the her dr.) I know two people that did that. Once found out it was the dairy working against her and my sister in law found out she couldn't tolerate the gluten (forget what that's called). Now both of them are doing and feeling so much better. 4.5 lbs - fabulous. Good Luck and I hope things continue in the right direction.

Me - still not making any progress but that is going to change starting today. My car is warming up right now and I'm heading back to the gym. Going to really focus on the exercise this week and see if I can get that back on track. After that I'm coming home to clean out the fridge and cabinets and put together menu's for this week.

You two are now my inspiration this week. We CAN do this. One month of 2019 is somehow already gone and I don't plan to waste any more time this year. I must get back on track.

My goal for February is 5 lbs! Fingers crossed and LET'S DO IT!!!

On Monday I started a cleansing diet under the guidance of the doctor. It is a 9-day elimination diet. I can eat a wide variety of foods, just not dairy, sugar, or carbs. I am trying to figure out why I feel so lousy all the time and why no matter what I do I am not losing weight. I will weigh myself today. I feel a bit better, but still bloated. I know my clothes are a bit looser. We will will see how it goes.

Hi all,

Ended the month down 6 pounds though there was a pound back on the scale this morning to start the month. Surprised it wasn't more with all the girl scout cookies I have had. They are now gone so hopefully will be eating better.

So the month wasn't too bad as I got all my steps in. Some of my other goals not as good. Need to work on more exercise and WATER. Aiming to lose 5 pounds this month. Let's see if I can do it.

Just got back from WW. I was down 1.3 from last week so that was good. Still up 2.2 from my goal weight but I'm heading in the right direction.

Now that life is finally settling down here it's time to focus on ME! The kitties finally ate last night so thrilled about that and no major commitments on the horizon. Goal by end of February is to lose 4 lbs.

So goal for next Saturday is to be down 1.2 lbs!

Be safe this weekend!

it is called Cafe Polina. It is on Dorchester Ave in South Boston. I grew up with a strong sense of my Polish heritage. It is funny that my kids are both Polish and Italian yet my daughter is very much an Italian Princess and my son is truly a Polish Prince. I love Polish food and make it sometimes for my dad. I just bought some sauerkraut and need to find some kind of kielbasa that will not bother my stomach.

Ooh where is that Janine? My grandparents on my Dad's side were from Poland but I haven't had a lot of Polish food except kielbasa. Would love to explore more. One of my good friend's husband's is from Poland and they are very active in the Polish community here.

My downfall is chips/crackers. I have a hard time resisting them. And if there is dip, watch out! However, I can be lured by chocolate and donuts as well.

I went out for a drink with a colleague. We got nachos. I should have gotten something better, but she didn't want her own meal so I succumbed to the pressure. I will consider it dinner though.

HA HA HA. Let me just say this once.

STEP AWAY FROM THE DONUT BOX! ha ha ha ha ha.

Seriously, I hear you. For me it's chocolate and I've been somewhat out of control since early December. I simply cannot have it in my house.......if I see it, I want it and 9 times out of 10 eat it.

I did fairly good this week and dropped a lot of the excess weight. Now if I could magically lose 3 lbs overnight I'd be thrilled. But alas, that's not going to happen so I will just get up and go and deal with the consequences.

Really hoping the ring shows up.

I did pretty well all week and then there was yesterday. Starting with the donut to start the day and then when I got back to the office after taking my Dad to the VA I ate a half a donut and then another donut. I LOVE donuts. Not we are eating counting the raisinets and spice drops at my Dad's. (They have candy always). Then there were leftovers from a meeting at the office with cheese, crackers, and cookies. And then when I caught home and was a crazy woman doing my steps I then decided to eat the big box of nerds from Xmas.

But that was yesterday and today back to my good habits. But boy would a doughnut taste good!

I really believe the ring was lost between my house and my cousin's. Now that I finally have the village down I can start an intense search for it.

I just have to get thru this one last 'crazy' weekend.

Dread going to WW tomorrow as I'm up about 3.5 lbs. Much better than the ummmm 9 the scale said when I got home but still. I hate being up but I will go tomorrow and face it. Then home to bake a birthday cake and at 1:30 tomorrow I will go and meet Jessie and Hope. Hopefully all will go well and these two cute girls will become part of my family.

Sigh, ok, I'm logging off from work and going back to cleaning and prepping the house for the new arrivals. I'll post the disastrous results tomorrow when I get back from my WW meeting.

Maryanne....put it a notice out on Facebook. I know many people have had luck with recovering missing items. I continue to pray that it is found.

Today I ate okay. I did have a couple of pieces of chocolate. I need to stop doing that!

Sometimes we just need days like that. Cheese and crackers are one of my favorites (but deadly). I did pretty good yesterday and thus far the scale is dropping back down. Sigh, per this morning, I'm still up 4.8 lbs. That's a lot of gumbo and beignets that were eaten and a LOT of drinks!

Ring is not within the 'village'. sigh...........Once I get all the Christmas stuff down and away I can really focus on the house and do room by room. Also need to get back over to my cousin's house with a metal detector for her yard. That will be my last chance. Other than that - it could have slid off anywhere when I pulled my gloves off (restaurants, stores)............ just very very sad and keep praying it will turn up.

Sigh, even sadder, I have to go get a bowl of fruit for breakfast............ :(

Have a good day all! :)

I didn't go to WW this morning since I knew I would have to pay and I am using my scale as well. The scale was down today so I figured that was good. I am tracking online so that works pretty well for me.

Good luck with the homework Janine and good luck with the village Maryanne. Any chance the ring could be in the midst of the village somewhere.

I am at the office trying to do some paperwork but I am not feeling too productive. Do have to head to the post office before it closes.

Despite the fact that I didn't want to, I walked the dog twice yesterday. Just 10 minutes at a time, but the steps are adding up.

I joined WW online, but I am not very consistent with logging my food.

Have a great Saturday ladies! I'm off to do homework.

Hey, be proud of those 4 days! Great start for you.

I'm not going to WW this morning either. I did weigh myself this morning and since getting home on Wednesday I do see that the scale has dropped 2.2 lbs? So was probably a little puffed up from flying but ugh, still up a solid 5 which is over goal range. I've been back on track with the eating but still a long way to go.

I'm just going to do my best to stay focused each and every day. Right now I need to continue to dismantle my Christmas Village and continue to get my house back in order.

Speaking of which - time to go haul more boxes up from my basement.

Have a great week everyone. WE CAN DO THIS! Remember, Spring will be here before we know it. :)

Didn't make it to WW today. Been drinking my water and getting my 10000 steps in all month so far. Yes, I realize it is only the 4th day of January but you've got to start somewhere!

Have a great weekend!

It's slow with the signing with the dog. I won't give up. We've walked every day.

Maryanne - Given all that you did the last two weeks that isn't too bad of a weight gain. At least you were having lots of fun. I too am back to tracking and will go to WW either Friday or Saturday. I will have to pay but it is worth it to stay on track.

Janine - I am amazed that you will be able to do sign language with the dog. That is awesome!

Look forward to checking in more often this year!

Good Morning all, Nice to see you checking in.

Janine - that's so awesome about the dog! I agree - great way to get you out and walking I read that you are working on some basic sign language with him. HOw's it going? How old is he?

Elizabeth - I hear ya on the year end. Same here....it's just been a whirlwind. I got home from New Orleans around 2:00 this morning. Had originally planned to turn around and head to Connecticut to see my other niece and her new baby but I managed to catch a small cold while away so I'll need to wait. Also (which I didn't know) because the baby was born 3 weeks early I need to have had both a flu shot and whooping cough shot before I 'enter their domain'. Not sure if this is actually medically required or if it's 'niece' required. I'll check in on the daily chat with Dawn and get the lo down.

Annnnnnnnnnnnyway - bottom line. Got on the scale this morning and gained 5-6 lbs in the past 2 weeks. Way too much eating and drinking. So today is a new day. Off work till Monday so unpacking, taking down the tree and then going grocery shopping for HEALTHY options. I am back on my WW plan and the goal is to drop at least 4 of these pounds before I go back to WW on the 12th.

SO - I'm off to get busy. I really hope those that have joined us on this thread continue and check in. It can be every day? once a week? once a month? Just keep at it and we can all have a very Successful, Happy, and Healthy 2019!!!!

Maryanne

That is awesome that you got the dog Janine.

I had to do a brisk walking video to get my steps in tonight. I was short by more than 2500 when I got home.

The beauty of having a new dog is taking him for a walk. I am hopeful to start getting up earlier to walk him before I go to work and then again when I get home. It is a 10-minute walk around the street so this is a good way to get myself moving. I am almost at 10,000 steps for the day!

Hi all,

I ate my way through the end of the year so ready to get back on track.

Finally hooked up my new fitbit charger 2 (crazy that there is already a 3 out there). I like it so far and am to be much more active)

Happy New Year!

Let's do this.

Jen! So great to hear from you. Hope all is well.

I swear, I've gained an easy 5 lbs here in new Orleans! I am SO on the food / wine wagon when I get back home!

Janine - you have had way too much on your plate these last few months. Hopefully 2019 will be a little less stressful!

I need to get back, i've totally fallen off the wagon as they say. I am starting a 28 day AdvoCare challenge 1/7/19 so that should surely jump start me.
