What I found useful when mine was little was to use them as part of the workout. Lifting them up and down is a good arm workout. Lay them on the floor and do pushups (and reward yourself everytime you get down by giving them a kiss) over them. Put them in a stroller and go for a walk.

There are plenty of things to do with them so you are still spending time with them while working out.

I'm about to start a routine soon hopefully. Allison is 2 weeks old as of yesterday. I think walking is a great idea but I wonder if you can sneak in an exercise video whenever baby naps in the morning? I was going to attempt this soon.

Abby mine is going to be 2 next month and I still haven't gotten into a regular routine. I think I could if I didn't also have to work full time, clean house, etc. etc.
I also lost most of the baby weight fairly quickly and breastfed for over a year, so I know it helped but exercise has mostly been taking him for walks.
The only thing that really works for me other than that is getting up early in the morning, before he wakes up. BUT, on the nights he didn't sleep well when he was younger, even that was hard. In doing that, I also had to make myself go to bed earlier, instead of staying up to read, watch TV, or clean.
So in short, I don't have a perfect solution. It's tough and I think sometimes it is ok.

Hello all. My DD is now 5 months old and I have yet to do anything to get back in shape. Fortunately I kept my weight gain pretty low during pregnancy and breastfeeding has helped take the weight back off, but I just can't seem to get myself moving with a new baby in house. The most I ever manage to do is go for a walk with the stroller.

It seems like any free time I have, I just want to spend it with her, not on a treadmill! It's no wonder moms have trouble finding the time to work out. Any advice from some experienced moms out there?

We'd actually like to start TTC #2 fairly soon and I feel like I've got to figure out a way to fit exercise in before then!
