Woman Defends Her Biggest 'Flaw' (and Gives Everyone Goosebumps)

Erin Schick has a stutter, but she refuses to let her speech impediment hold her back or embarrass her. Her spoken word piece is an excellent example of how to "own" the things that make us unique and beautiful. So inspiring!

I stuttered as a child. When I was a child I would often open my mouth to speak but couldn't make ANY sound come out! I also had trouble with "r", "s" and "th" at the middle or the end of a word. I haven't completely outgrown it. It comes back once in a while in certain circumstances and often at the most inopportune times (like job interviews!) and I still have trouble with "th" in the middle or the end of a word. This young lady is a truly talented poet and has other unique and special gifts as well, including her voice. This is a very powerful message! Report

I really loved this speech. I used to stutter. So I wished I was given her confidence instead of having to be fixed. I shouldn't say used to because I still stutter when I am very nervous or tired. Report
