My name is Barb I am 59 and have a son that is 25, I love this place because it has the tools that will get and keep me healthy. I Actually started Feb 9, 2009 weighing 400.4 I weigh in on Tuesdays. I lost some and then gained up to 410. I totally quit dieting and started a my own method of eating. You can find it on facebook (http://www.facebook.com/ContainYourselfAt
ThePlate?ref=tn_tnmn) I don't use the containers much now. But I am still losing without going without the things I love.

I use to tell my doctor that I was addicted to sugar. I tried to get into groups for addicts. I tried everything I could to quit but I just couldn't. I ate sugar and white food all the time. Huge bowls of potatoes, or rice. I loved to nuke a container of ice cream and eat it in one setting. The only veggie I liked was cauliflower and then fried in margarine. I would eat till I was full and eat some more. Then my doctor told me I had tipped the Diabetic scale. My blood sugar was above 200. Something about that day turned me around. Probably fear of needles. My doctor says I probably will never need insulin but I don't want to take any chances. So, I got on the net and researched diabetes. I found two sites that I use to go to everyday. This one of course and DiabetesDaily.com.

I don't come here much any more because I don't like to surround my life with the thought of losing weight. But I do miss you guys, especially RedBubbles. You have been a real trouper. Hang in there lady.

    I am a christian. I wanted to comment on what you posted on one of the threads about being atheist. Everyone is entitled to what they believe. I do not hold that against you! You have every right to your beliefs. I hope that being a christian doesn't push you away from myself and others. We all are here to support each other and love each other. Pushing my belief on anyone has never been my style. I would like to add you to my spark friends list. Have a great day and look forward to getting to know you better. emoticon

    emoticon emoticon Barbara to People with Disabilities on Fixed Income. I'm Hope a co-leader. Good Luck on your weight loss and what you've lost already. I am also on a team Living with Diabetes. Perhaps you'd like to join that one too. Drink plenty of water or build up to it and exercise 30 min. an day for 3 days at first. You can break that up into 3 10 min. segments. Try to aim for 5 days. I have worked up to 1 1/2 hours a day with Sunday off. Hope
