"Know the true value of time; snatch, seize and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness...never put off till tomorrow what you can do today."
- Lord Chesterfield

Book 4: 2017 - Prologue...here we go...again!

****Leaving this here to remind me that I can do it!****

Book 3: 2009 - Prologue:
September 9: Starting Over. Simply said. Simply done.

Book 2: 2009 - Prologue:

Here I am, less fat, a lot less dumb, and still very happy. After just over 7 months of being on SparkPeople and losing 68 lbs., I have come to realize that, as my SparkPage title says, every day I do write the book. I have learned that the most important choice is the next one that you make, not the ones that you have already made since you can't change them. I have come to terms with the fact that this journey I am on is a lifetime journey. There is no destination except the final one and I have a lot of living to do before I get there. I know that life will sometimes get in the way of my best healthy lifestyle intentions, but that is the way life is. I know that I cannot measure my success by the snapshot of my scale, my ability to stay within calorie range each day, or the number of fitness minutes I get in. I will measure my success over time, like a moving picture which tells the story of my journey rather than just showing a short excerpt.

So for 2009 my goals are to continue living healthy and losing weight. I will set monthly goals at the beginning of each month so I can account for things like vacations and holidays that come up. My original plan was to have all the weight off by August 2009 - I think this is a stretch goal that I will keep, but if I don't make it there I'm ok with that. As it has been said many times before, I didn't put this weight on overnight and it certainly isn't going to come off overnight. My life is not on hold during this journey, I will continue to live my life to the fullest. I will push myself to do things that I never thought I was capable of (either physically or emotionally) and enjoy every moment.

So, I will keep on writing one chapter at a time in this book of my life. And I would like to dedicate this book to my SparkFriends who have supported, encouraged, motivated and most importantly of all, inspired me on my journey. Thank you...may 2009 shine bright for us all!

Book 1: 2008 - Prologue:

There I was, as they say - "fat, dumb and happy", living my life. Not really paying attention to the voice in my head. You know, the one that you suppress as it screams out to tell you that things are not good. The one that quietly taunts you when you look in the mirror and tell yourself - "hmmm, I don't look that bad, I'm not getting older, I'm not that overweight."

I just turned 40 and have a loving husband and two beautiful children, ages 6 and 4. I live within miles of a very loving and supportive family. I have a beautiful home, nice things, a very comfortable life many would say, but again, there was that nagging voice telling me that I needed to do something about the way I was living my life. Telling me that if I wanted to make a lifetime of lasting memories with my kids, and isn't that what all the parenting magazines and articles tell you that you should be doing, I needed to make changes to my lifestyle.

So, here I am, listening to that voice, and making the commitment to myself to make a lifestyle change to improve my quality of life. Writing new chapters of my journey along the way...

My Goals:
Continue to lose weight by making healthy choices and incorporating exercise into my daily routine.

Teach my children how to live a healthy lifestyle so they won't have struggles with their weight when they get older.

Attempt a C25K program - I'll need to see if my knees will allow me to run. If not, I'll continue to walk and see just how fast I can get my best mile down to!

My Program:
Joined a gym, doing a 30 minute circuit/cardio program 3x a week for strength, then cardio 2x week. Weekends are optional...we'll see how we feel and then decide what to do, adding in some family activities (stressing the "active" in activities!)

Personal Information:
I live in Central Massachusetts and have two children, ages 15 and 13.

I have several different jobs, I work for my brother's computer company, I'm all a real estate professional, and I have an on-line promotions company that offers services to romance authors.

I'm also active in the education arena, serving as a school committee representative for my local school district, as well as serving on a regional schools board. I'm also an appointed member of our town's Finance Committee.
