My name is Amanda.

I'm an emotional eater and I have always turned to food for comfort. I have been successful in the past with diets, but the weight always comes back. I need to stop dieting, face my fears and change my lifestyle. I have the tools I need, it's just a matter of putting them into action.

Here's a little background: In Spring of 2005 I was a newly single, mother of two and I weighed 192lbs. I decided that year would be my year to change- Everything! After being a stay at home mom for 3 years, I got a job and started to provide for my family, enrolled in college, and I began dieting and exercising. By Spring of 2006 I was down to 135lbs. Over 55 lbs lost!

During my weight loss journey I met a wonderful man, and I felt completely liberated in every sense of the word for the first time in my life. We got serious, I got comfortable, started backsliding on exercise and diet, then by fall of 2006 I found out I was pregnant with baby number 3. I gave birth to my third daughter in June of 2007. I weighed myself one week after and I weighed a whopping 199lbs. I panicked; I started doing every fad diet known to man. I would lose 30 lbs and then gain it back, lose 20 then regain 15. It was a constant losing battle. At one point I got down to 145lbs and I was so close I could taste it. This was Spring of 2008 and I had lost the weight for my wedding on May 1st. I looked nice for my big day, but shorlty after, things went down hill once again.

From may 2008 until January 2009, I gained close to 30 lbs. So now its time to start over. I'm doing it differently this time around. I'm in no rush. I'm taking it one step at a time. I have accepted that this will not happen over night and I have to take care of me for a change.

I know that deep down inside there is a healthy, happy person, just waiting to come out. I strongly relate to a butterfly (hence the name "mariposa"). Once I have reached my goals I will be able to release the baggage I have carried and hid under for so long, to appear as a radiant being, full of life and beauty.

I am eating healthy and making wise decisions. I will no loger tell myself that I cannot eat something, but rather think of sensible alternatives or watch my portions. I have to eat in a way that I can continue to eat for the rest of my life.

I'm doing cardio every evening with my daughters and I've added some weights to that! When the weather warms up, I'll start walking again.

I am from Tallahasse, FL. I'm a mom to three precious angels, an online student and a paralegal. I'm a little busy to say the least.

    Hi Amanda! How has your week been? Mine has been going pretty good. I've been exercising like a crazy woman. Hee Hee & I've been really good about tracking calories. If I make it through today in my calorie range it will be 22 days in a row. Hooray! Hope you're enjoying spark & making lots of friends! Becky

    Hi Amanda. Thanks for the nice words on my page. I truly believe that anyone can live a healthier life; it's just making more smarter choices than wrong choices. We all have lives that we still have to live and saying no to birthday cake and ice cream will only set you up for failure. It's all a yin-yang.
