UPDATE 10/9/2019
I have been on this weight journey far longer than I ever expected. I always hoped by the time I was 30 I'd have it "figured out" but now I've got 35 staring me in the face and boy oh boy I'm still not there lol. Lots happened in the meantime: got divorced, met someone new, now engaged and happier than I ever dreamed... but the food issues still plague me. I still bounce around from bingeing to starving and have trouble with moderation. And now to top it all off I have developed a lot of stomach and bowel issues.

What's the new goal? Find balance! Love myself more. Drink more tea, especially peppermint for my stomach. Drink a bit less alcohol. Find time to self-pamper OFTEN. Stay as active as possible. Travel a LOT!

UPDATE 1/24/2015
Another year! I think I'm going to be a sparker for life! Haha... Looking back on my past year, I did some good emotional work and really had a lot of fun. Learning how to be more positive and just enjoy life. It's still a work in progress but life always is! I'm not sure what I weigh right now and I'm continuing to focus on my mind, how I think about food, and self love. Flexibility is back on the goal list too, this time with a stretching partner!

UPDATE 1/4/2014
It seems to be my trend to have to continue this process of losing and then gaining it back - almost back to my starting weight. 2014, here I come. My new goals are to learn how to deal with my emotions without food, get flexible, and to have more FUN this year!

UPDATE 2/6/2013:
After my mother's very sudden passing nearly 2 years ago, my struggle with grief sent me right back into an emotional eating spiral. My lowest weight of 135 skyrocketed until I found myself over 170, nearly back at my highest. I am ready to get back to my healthy habits again. I never reached my ultimate goal of 130, and I think 2013 is my year. :) Here's to new beginnings and new happiness!

Story of my life: I've always been working on my weight and learning to love my body. I've already lost almost 30 pounds with sparkpeople's help, and I've been maintaining successfully for over a year now. However, with the routine comes a certain degree of boredom, loss of motivation, and return to old habits. I am realizing that it's not just about changing behaviors; that you have to address the real problem behind the behavior. So now I am about focusing on me: loving myself more, making time for myself, and developing healthy beliefs and activities that keep me from being bored and depressed. I will forgive myself more and love myself more, and work on getting to a healthy state of mind AND body.

I think making some mini-goals may help me be more careful this time about how I do this. I tend to get obsessive over diets, which is why I need to make sure I do this in a healthy, moderate way. In fact, I am giving up the word "dieting." A while back I became so obsessed that I couldn't get things in perspective and I began eating far too few calories. I was miserable, and it's taken me a long time to get back to feeling good again. In the meantime I've gained some of my weight back, but this time I want to focus more on the healthy aspects of recharging my lifestyle. So now I've focused on more whole foods in my diet and eating smaller portions more frequently. I feel much healthier that way and know it's much better for my body.

If I keep to my guidelines I will give myself a small reward each week, and every two weeks I will treat myself to a massage. I will re-assess the goals each month and make sure that I'm not becoming obsessed. If I start losing more than a pound a week I WILL increase my calories, and I will NEVER go below 1200 calories/day. This way I will keep my body and mind healthy while I strive for a healthier lifestyle.

Do stretching every day! Increase flexibility.

Strive for a clean diet as much as possible, keeping vegetarian and mostly vegan.

Practice: eating without distractions and eating for hunger, NOT boredom or other emotional reasons.

Journal every morning, even if it's just one sentence!

My Program:
Try at least 3 new vegan dishes each week to keep things interesting with my diet.

Some kind of activity for 30 minutes each day.

Do affirmations 5 minutes each day.

At least 6 glasses water per day.
