Pain, Pain, Go Away! At Least Until 40...

Ugh. I feel awful. Not because it's gray and rainy outside---I actually like rainy days. My back is miserable! Boo! I wake up in the morning, and I can barely move. I think the problem is that I flip over to my stomach in the night, which is not a good position for my back. People keep telling me to sew a tennis ball into the front of my pajamas so I can't lay on my tummy. That sounds weird, so I don't do it, but every day I wake up wishing I'd already done it! It's been nearly a year since my back surgery, and my back is more annoying now than it was RIGHT after the surgery. I think there are special exercises I could/should be doing. Just have to find that booklet from my neurosurgeon.

The other pain is in my shoulder. In January (or was it February? I don't remember), I fell in the parking lot at Meijer. Stepped out of my car onto a small patch of black ice, and I landed hard on my right arm. My shoulder's been hurting on and off since then, but the last two weeks, it's mostly been on. Not sure what to do with that. I'm going back to the doc in a month and a half for other stuff, so perhaps I'll mention it. Hopefully my arm won't fall off before then!

I've always been a klutz, so I've always dealt with some amount of pain. Cuts and bruises, annoying mystery aches, and, of course, the pain of embarrassment when I take a dive into the pavement. :) But now I'm starting to feel old. Doesn't help that I'm turning 30 this year. My husband laughed at me for buying age-reversing lotion the other day. I don't have wrinkles, but my hubby found a shining silver hair on my head a few weeks ago. I never thought I'd be the kind of gal who cared about how old she got. Now I suddenly care. I'm kind of annoyed with myself.

I'm hoping that this move to make myself healthier will have an effect on how I feel about aging. And hopefully it'll have an effect on all these aches and pains! Ooooh, my back...

    Just wanted you to know about the tennis ball deal. My orthodontist had me to do that. (I got braces as an adult at the same time as my son). You don't even have to sew. Take a tennis ball and a rubber band put the tennis ball in and secure it actually he had us put on on each side and one on your stomach and that way when you start to turn over the ball on your side help keep you on your back.. and it also keeps your teeth straight too! emoticon

    Ditto that, find that booklet! I would go to the doc for your shoulder. It could be a simple fix. You need to take the time to get yourself better! This is coming from a fellow klutz...heehee.

    Hugs... hope your back & shoulder feel better soon. Take it easy and find those stretches/exercises from your neurosurgeon...
