Band too tight = not much weight loss

Friday, September 25, 2009

Well I cannot believe almost four weeks have passed and I am still struggling somewhat with foods. I often "almost" get stuck, and have had a handful of times when I did get stuck and ended up PB'ing. Ugggh.

Yes, some of it is likely my eating too fast or slightly larger than a pea bite portion sizes -- but ever since my last fill I really have been having a hard time and the scale shows it -- barely moved over the four weeks. I am concentrating on slider foods (nothing sugary or high carb thank goodness) but higher calorie regardless (hummus, greek yogurt, tuna with lite mayo, chicken salad, etc.) Then I have tried eating out 2 times in the last week, and both times I ended up PB's in the restroom. Last night was ick.... I was eating broiled fillet of sole for goodness sake! I should be able to eat broiled sole! I think there was some onions in the side dish that I sampled.... and for some reasons onions and my band really don't mix well.

So I have an appt. with Dr. Fielding on Oct. 8th and I will check with him and see what he thinks. It could be a tiny unfill is just what I need.

Hi, I know it is not easy keeping the food down,I have the same thing happen to me. Another way to get protein shakes. I bought Isopure whey protein (powder) Low -Carb no sugar. It has 50 grams of protein for 2 scoops. I bought it at the vitamin shoppe or GNC also has it. I get the vanilla because you can add a lot of flavors to it.

A recipe I like is I freeze the small cups of pineapple in it's own juice. Instead of ice. Then I add some coconut extract and it tastes like a pina collada. You can make up your own recipes. It is very smooth not gritty.I also like the atkins ready shakes 17 gr of protein.

    I hope this helps.

I to have had lap band surgery and I have experienced the same thing. You definetly do not want to let it go to long where you are having to bring the food back up because it gets stuck. I kept thinking it would get better and I ended up with acid reflux and my band had to be completely emptied. My dr told me that basically after 4cc's my body is really sensitive to the change. So when I reach that point I have to get really tiny adjustments. I have yet to get back to 4ccs because my insurance stopped covering my fills but I Plan on getting one in the next month and I am hoping that everything goes well. I wish you luck.
