I have been running for two and a half years and I throughly enjoy it. I might not be great at running but if you love something and it makes you feel good then you just have to do it regardless.
Running for me is not about being the best or beating anyone, it's simply the act of being able to run and hold a conversation at the same time. It has become a social event where I can meet with people and be doing something so purpose and good for me.
I also joined a running club in my first few weeks of running. I didn't know what to expect but I was greeted by a friendly man and that made me want to stay. It's the people in a group that make you want to stay. The running group is made up of champion runners and those that run for leisure. It's for all people and needs.
Today I met up with another two friends from the group who run at my pace or thereabouts. It was lovely.
I made sure I had my gloves, my asthma inhaler, my drinking bottle, my garmen, my friends phone numbers, my phone and a map. It was quite an expedition.
Luckily I found Rachel's home quite quickly and arrived at the exact same time as my other friend Jayne. We parked a short distance away and frowned at the drizzly rain.
The run was great, we ran along the roads and then through a lane. There was some lovely sight seeing to be had. However, Rachel hurt her knee and had to stop at mile 8 which was a shame.
So Jayne and I continued. Miles 6-11 went rather fast for me but the last couple dragged on a bit. It was lovely running with another person it made the time go so quickly.
I had only ever ran 11 miles before without stopping. I have run 3 half-marathons but have always stopped at mile 11.
I didn't stop at all today. This is a great achievement for me and my legs are a little achy but that's nothing.
I am so happy and wanted to share this because there used to be time (2 and a half years ago) when I coudn't run at all. I learnt to run bu walking for a minute and then running for a minute and repeating this for 3 miles.
And another thing - if I can do this anyone can!
Thanks for listening and for your support. Hugs x
