My advice (mostly to myself)

Friday, June 04, 2010

My advice to myself: don't try and be perfect all the time. For example: In the past I have always strived to have a perfectly clean house. This presents a problem, because then it leaves me no time for anything else, especially relaxing and working out, etc, etc. Lately I have been just leaving the dishes and laundry for twice weekly and letting my husband pick up the slack, which he does (thankfully). Sometimes I just have to relax and do nothing and hang out with my son. I really want to enjoy him now, while he is still around. I don't want to regret not spending any time with him.

I have the same problem - except I never live up to my own expectations. Like last weekend, I intended to get the house clean. Instead I laid around, read, went to a birthday picnic, took care of our new puppy - and felt guilty the whole time!!! Not only did my house not get clean, I didn't really relax since I was so busy thinking about what I SHOULD be doing! Ugh! Not really sure what to do about it though.
