Biking through the English Countryside

Sunday, June 13, 2010

I think one of the main reasons for my sudden obsession with biking is the fact that only a few minutes cycling out of the city and I find myself in the most lush green countryside that I can possibly imagine.

Yesterday, I set off on a 25 mile bike ride on my own. It was so peaceful! I hardly noticed the cars passing me by and within 5 minutes the cars had seemed to grow less and there were not many around at all. If the cars were bees then the city was the hive. Apart from one of two cars I didn't see many others.

It's only fair to describe the view as heaven on earth. It's so beautiful that it makes me wonder if humans could ever make anything quite a beautiful as the blades of grass that shimmer silver in the sunshine with it's various hues. The sight is breath taking and awesome.

I wanted to share this with you so I snapped some photos for you to see. Obviously the camera is limited to sight only, as I could not capture the cool breeze blowing against my face as I cycled along or the changing of the colours as the sun disappeared behind the clouds for a brief moment before coming out and firing up the plants with life and energy.

I was also going out that night to see my friends daughter sing country music with her band so I took a pic of me before I went out. This is my latest haircut which looks very similar to the last ones. lol!

Needless to say that after dancing for a few hours in my heels I was unable to run the 10 mile race today as my calves were playing up.

But something good came out from that! I took my camera and captured the moment for others as they ran over the finishing line. It was all good fun. In fact it was so exciting to see others run for a change. I couldn't believe how fast some of those runners were. Unbelievable. Looks to me as if they sprint the entire distance. Wow!

Oh, and the country side is, too! emoticon

What an incredible place you live, Helen. I can see why you would love riding your bike so often. Love how those horses posed for the picture! lol

Does your hubby stay clear from all fitness activity, like mine does?

Until I buy either a new USB cable for my digital camera or a new camera, sadly I can't be posting any pictures for ya to see. Sure wish I knew where my cord disappeared to. I think it's stuck inside the desk, behind the drawers..which seem to be permanently connected to the tracks. emoticon

You just keep snapping enough for the both of us!! emoticon

Love it! Scenes like this are the ones that truly restore my soul. We are lucky enough to live in a good sized city that is surrounded by countryside, so it doesn't take much to find yourself in the "middle of nowhere". Beautiful.
And, I'm glad you were able to take pictures of those people crossing the finish line - I'm sure they will appreciate it.
