Getting ready...

Monday, July 19, 2010

Well the bags are packed and my plan to get to the airport is in place. 2 days of impatient waiting and then my sister and I are off to Ireland. We have talked about doing this trip for years and years. We are both really excited to be going. I now need to clean this wreck of a house so I can come back to nice and clean! I bought a new suitcase for the trip and I was amazed at how much I could actually get into it. I will have plenty of room for my planned souvenirs and hopefully will not go too overboard with the unplanned ones. My weight is still fluctuating more than I would like and it is all due to my not making good choices when I am hanging out with family/friends...more things for me to learn about living healthy I guess. I am planning to keep an eye on my food choices while on vacation but I am not going to go berserk if I stumble, okay dive right into poor choices. My goal is to learn about and enjoy all that is Irish so my dives will be into foods that I am unfamiliar with and do not find here in the states. I have decided to take along a couple of favorite recipes and see if I can get or trade for some favorite Irish recipes since we will be staying at B & B's during most of our stay. I thought that would be a great souvenir for myself and then I can try them when I get back home.

Your trip sounds like it should be exciting and lots of fun. Staying in a b&b is fun, we did that in London back 24 years ago. It was a fairly large one so people were from many places. It only served breakfast but sincew we had friend there we were fine with just breakfast. I'm hoping this is the vacation of a lifetime that you have been talking and planning for . Hope you get some recipes. My friend brought many recipes back from England, some were a bit difficult to duplicate exactly---but she had fun trying. Will be waiting for your blog(s) when you get back about the trip. Enjoy, as it is hard to know what is in recipes your not familair with, just do the best you can and try lots of the local foods as I'm thinking it will taste best there.
