Do you have a skinny kitchen?

I was reading an article about how to stock a "Skinny Kitchen" and it stated that you should always have at least 6 "go-to" foods/meals on hand (healthy of course!). This really makes a lot of sense because I know that for me personally, when I run out of certain things, I tend to make worse eating choices. I'm always looking for new ideas so let's see what your foods are!

Here are mine (I did meals since there's no way I could narrow down to just 6 particular foods!):

1. My homemade "Super Salsa" (tomatoes, red onions, cilantro, jalapenos, radishes, limes) I eat this at least once on most days, sometimes more!

2. My homemade "Mexican Meatloaf" (ground chicken breast, super salsa from above, reduced fat shredded mexican cheese, fat-free sour cream, eggs, Quaker Guacamole tortillaz) This is probably my favorite meal :)

3. Non-fat plain yogurt w/Jell-O sugar-free, fat-free Cheesecake pudding mix and a Granny Smith apple (favorite snack)

4. PB2 (chocolate) on an Arnold multi-grain sandwich thin w/banana and strawberries

5. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts slow-cooked in crockpot w/BBQ sauce, then shredded, served over either whole wheat pasta with reduced-fat cheddar cheese, or mixed salad greens.

Hmmm... coffee is not a food right? What about Gu?

6. Original vegan boca burgers w/laughing cow light creamy french onion cheese and Asian stir-fry veggies with sesame oil.

If you look at my food tracker (prior to this past week - I had a really bad week), you'll see that I basically eat those same things all the time. Or I have those same ingredients in different combinations.

    My kitchen is a small skinny thing. Space is a commodaty,I do a little crockpot cooking so there are plenty of mixed up left-overs for the week. Very rarely do hubby and I eat out. Glad spring is here, can not wait for fress vegetables. However, when I cook I taste to the point I am not hungry when it's ready. Some diet!!!

    Much to my daughters dismay, i do have a skinny kitchen too.

    My go to meals include
    1. Crock pot salsa chicken
    2. Chicken and broccoli bake
    3. Chili (my husband makes this with ground turkey)
    4. Oscar Mayer turkey slices with Sargento Pepper Jack Cheese on natures own Wheat Bread. (A really cheap meal, calorie-wise.)
    5. Apples, apples, apples... I have two a day always!
    6. Frozen Fish and frozen veggies for a quick meal.

    I work in DC and spend too much time on the road to cook a lot, but love to make some of these on the weekends and have plenty of left overs for the week. Excited about spring and all the fresh veggies and fruits that will be in my store soon!!!

    Skinny Kitchen--sort of.
    My Go to's:
    1. Ezekial English Muffin with Peanut butter or almond butter
    2. Whole wheat pasta with turkey meatballs and veggies
    3. Baked salmon with veggies
    4. Split pea dal
    5. Baked chicken breast with veggies
    6. Turkey burgers/salmon burgers/black bean burgers and baked fries

    Always have emoticon and emoticon apple in the house as I eat them every weekday.. and some weekends. Always have salad fixings too as most of our dinners is some sort of protein and a salad, or veggie or potatoes/rice especially if I am running the next day!

    Good list! Here are some go-to meals from my kitchen:

    1-"make your own tacos" with whole wheat tortillas with taco-seasoned Jenny-O ground turkey meat, black or pinto beans, avocado, salsa, and lettuce

    2-roast chicken with sweet potatoes and onions, steamed broccoli on the side

    3-quinoa baked with whatever chopped veggies I have around, plus cottage cheese, goat cheese or ricotta

    4-apple slices with almond or peanut butter

    5-salmon baked with soy sauce, ketchup and honey glaze, with brown rice and a spinach salad on the side

    6-egg whites with Jenny-O breakfast sausage and a slice of whole wheat toast

    7-lentil soup over rice

    8-oatmeal!

    Yep, I def. have a "skinny kitchen" as well! I always keep frozen veggies at hand, and the moment I come home w/fresh veggies from the farmers market or supermarket, I clean and prep them. I also make sure to keep my protein sources handy (prepared meals, such as chicken breasts in some sort of sauce, broiled flank steak, or eggs), because as long as I meet my protein levels, then I KNOW that I will avoid the bad stuff such as potato chips or cookies. My hunger will have been nipped in the bud by then!
