A few steps back now I need to jump forward!

Monday, May 16, 2011

It’s Monday... and I’m feeling good! I feel ready to restart my journey and move forward again, after my few steps back.

The combination of the cruise and my weekend camping has taken its toll. My stomach still feels uncomfortable and not quite right. My clothes are no longer loose. My elbow is also pretty sore.

But I’ve just signed up for the Spring Challenge Bootcamp and I’m raring to go! My next weekend away is in 3 weeks time, a girls’ shopping trip to Seattle with a friend and I’m looking forward to that – although I will have to be strong and careful about eating out. I often find it easier when I’m with my friend to make good choices than when I’m with Mark so hopefully I will be strong!

Exercise wise – it’s circuit training tonight and I have signed up for 6 weeks of Zumba, starting on Wednesday. I will also start getting up at 5.30 again to do exercise before work. The Spring Challenge has some videos that I will work on in the mornings, and if I get time I might combine them with another 10 minute workout.

My goal of being slim and fabulous in October is in danger of failing so I need to do something about this NOW. There is no time like the present and I will be strong and focussed. I need to make sure that I kick start my progress now and really focus on being as slim and healthy as I can for Sydney in October. I know I can do it. I can do anything if I focus on one step at a time!

I also want to restart my writing and hope that I can really make progress. It has been put to one side since I entered the short story competition. No more excuses!

My failings are my weekends camping. I don’t focus on water, it slips out of my mind. I was unable to exercise (or perhaps this was just an excuse) but perhaps as the weather improves, I can go for a power walk or some intervals with jogging if my knee holds up – before we leave the campsite for the day. If I can do even 15 minutes in the mornings this will make a big difference. I need to focus on food too. I do try to eat healthy choices but overeat during these weekends. I must track when I’m away.

My chiropractor said my sore elbow is Tennis elbow and recommended a tennis elbow strap. I bought one and did notice a difference but have forgotten to bring it to work today. My elbow is really sore today following a weekend of picking up the girls constantly and not looking after it. She gave me some more stretches that will help my elbow and shoulder so hopefully I can work on making both stronger and less painful. She also recommended that I leave out some of the machines in circuit training – specifically the push for arms and shoulders as I don’t need anything that will curve my back. I will see how I go today. I think I will try to do more of the cardio machines just until I gain some strength back in my elbow and shoulder.

Reading some success stories and blogs from my SP friends is really helping me focus. Thanks SP!!!

emoticon You've got a great attitude and will be able to get to your goals no problem. I think camping is a huge obstacle for most people, we camp alot in the summer with our kids and I always feel so dehydrated because i forget to drink as much water as I'm used to! It happens to all of us! emoticon
