Ups and downs

I’m feeling pretty motivated today... it’s just a shame I’m at work and can’t go out walking in the sunshine – yes, we finally have some sunshine in Vancouver!

From my office I can see the Disney Wonder and remember that just two weeks ago, it was us boarding the ship (the rough Wednesday of sea sickness now a distant memory!) and about to start our holiday... it’s nice to see the ship again though and it’s not making me feel sad.

I’m looking forward to a weekend at home. We also have Monday as a public holiday which is great, and with my Friday off, it’s a nice, long weekend.

I’ve been toying with the idea of an exercise bike for a while and after Missme1223 mentioned her bike I had a look on Craigslist for a second-hand bike but there was nothing much around... so I had a look and there are some half price ones at Canadian Tire so I’ve asked Mark to get me one on the way home! It’s a recumbent one so I’m hoping it will not give me the numb bum that I used to get on an old bike I had. The reviews say it’s quiet too so hopefully I can do some cycling in front of the TV in the evenings.

It’s also my first proper day of the Spring Boot Camp and I got up nice and early to get in the 10 minute workout video. It was the cardio one so pretty straightforward. I’m hoping that I won’t have any issues with the rest of them as my brain isn’t really operating at full speed at 5.30am! Yesterday I went to the Circuit training class and was a bit disappointed as the teacher I liked is not taking the class anymore. The new teacher is quite a bit slower and so the warm up isn’t as intense.

More moaning – my shoulder, neck and elbow on my left are really sore. I’ve just nipped to the shops to get some Tylenol and am hoping they’ll kick in soon. I have my tennis elbow strap on today which is helping a little but it’s my neck area that’s really sore. I iced it after my class yesterday and avoided the push type exercises. I didn’t do many upper body exercises at all really, concentrating on the cardio machines and leg exercises because the shoulder was a little sore.

Last night I broke my night time snacking rule but I was under my calories and I didn’t get home until 8.50pm following the circuit training class. I’m finding that my carbs are always quite high and protein is low... Over the weekend I think I’m going to start looking at the Flat Belly Diet books I bought months ago that have just sat on my shelves to see if I can kick start things with my nutrition. I think I’m slipping into a “whatever’s easiest” type routine with my food. Hopefully now the weather is improving we can bbq at nights and combine that with salads and other healthy ingredients.

I just re-read this blog and it’s all over the place so I apologise to any readers. I guess that’s kind of how I feel at the moment. I’m motivated but feel let down by my shoulder... I’m also excited to move forward but am stuck at my desk at work... Roll on the weekend!

YAY! for getting a bike!! I love mine (it's also a recumbent) It's quiet and I always watch tv while on it =) I get a numb butt, but it takes a while to get there...I pause for a few seconds and wiggle around and that usually helps...I think the seat is just not wide enough for my back end...LOL I have a pillow from the couch on it and that helps alot. I really hope you like it!!

Hope the pain issues get better... emoticon

We all have these days of feeling good about our progress but still disappointed in certain areas. This is so normal. Good luck with everything. I am the same with nutrition. Whatever is easiest that gets me within my calories. You will be fine! emoticon
