Moment of madness????

Wow – was this a moment of madness or what! I’ve just signed up for a 5km walk/run this Sunday!
I think I’ll be fine with a 5km walk as Mark and I often go for long, long walks at the weekend, often quite a bit over 5kms. I am going to try to go as fast as I can, perhaps do a little interval training as I go. I am going to do this on my own so I can really learn how I manage it and what works best for me.
I feel excited! Let’s see how I feel on Sunday afternoon! The race is nice and early, at 7.30am.
I’ve been thinking of doing a 5km – but not really set myself any targets and after this first one, I’m really going to try to work up to something bigger. I must talk to my chiro about how to manage my aches if I want to start working up towards something bigger.
Apart from signing up for the race, today I got up early and did Day 1 of week 2’s video at 5.40am. Tonight I’m going to do a brisk 15 minute walk and also some cycling or Zumba on the wii.
This week I’m going to focus on:
At least 300 minutes of exercise for the week.
Try 1 new recipe.
Getting the balance right – 3 days minimum of getting carbs/fats/protein levels in the correct range.
Some writing on Friday.
I’ve always been a “just do it” person and I was lucky enough to find a run/walk in my area this weekend! On Monday I will sign up for another if I’m still feeling excited about it! The next one in our area that I could go to is on the 18th June, but this is the day after my mother-in-law arrives from the UK... so I will have to check with Mark first. It’s another morning race, but not as early. I think it should be fine... they have a 5km and a 10km walk. I will see how Sunday’s race goes before deciding. I just looked at the schedule – there’s a half marathon run/walk on 25th September... perhaps that is a target for me to aim for!
It’s my first work day having eating the Go Lean cereal... My tum is feeling a little empty now, but it’s 9.55am... so just over 3 hours since I ate breakfast... not too bad but I usually last until 11am. I should be feeling fuller for longer so I will make myself a cup of tea and try to last a bit longer before I have a snack.
OK... feeling excited... don’t want to have to work but should... been sat here for some time and only managed one work related email so far!
