Getting organised

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

A new day and I’m still looking forward to Sunday’s challenge of the 5K. I have downloaded the podrunner First to 5k series and am going to try one out on Friday I think. I am also going to see if I can get myself some comfy runners as my current pair gave me blisters the last time we took a long walk.

I spoke to Mark about my plan for the race (to do some interval training) and as I expected, he was a bit negative about my plans and said I shouldn’t run because of my knee. However, I put what I was going to do on my facebook status and my chiropractor “Likes” it so I’m assuming that she thinks it’s not a bad idea... We shall see. I will take time to review how I am going, both on the day and afterwards. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I just reviewed one of my blogs and I’d totally forgotten about searching for a picture of a great outfit for a wedding... so I must put that on my to do list... Talking of to do lists, I’ve just downloaded a free iphone app called Wunderlist which looks pretty good. I really need to get organised as there are so many things I want to do that fall by the wayside because I can’t “see” them constantly. So, I will take some time over the next few days to populate my list and see how it goes. I had read a tip from a SP member about iprocrastinate and then searched around for a good free app and found Wunderlist was quite highly recommended. I like being organised and love ticking tasks off so hopefully this will help me to stop procrastinating and get things done!

I also just spent 5 minutes updating my weight loss spreadsheet and calculator. Due to my pathetic weight loss efforts for the past 6 weeks or so, and gain on holiday, I’m not going to reach my goal by the trip to Australia unless I go crazy... 19 weigh ins away... well, 18 really... that would mean I’d have to lose an average of nearly 1.5kgs a week... not totally unrealistic but let’s face it, it’s not going to happen. So, I’ve set myself a new target of 0.85kgs per week which will get me to about 6kgs less than when we left last year... if I push a little further I can get into the 60s without a huge effort (an extra 1.4kg total over the 18 weeks) which would be awesome.

So, time to really push... I’m hoping Friday’s weigh in will be a good start. I’ve been pretty good this week so far and hope to continue. If I can keep up the levels of exercise I’ve been managing for the past few weeks and manage to keep my calorie intake within the range, I should be close to reaching my target.

OK... now to work out how to add a task to my new tool – to find a lovely wedding outfit!

Have fun Spark Friends!

yay!! being organised is definately the key to being successful i believe :) im the same as you, in that i love checking things of my list!! it really puts things into perspective for me...its a lot easier when you break things down and say i need to do this this and this it makes the overall task at hand a lot less daunting!!
im soo proud of your for doing this run!! and im a strong believer that deep down we know if we are capable of something and if we are not...so i say if you think your body is ok with trying the interval training GO FOR IT! and if it starts to hurt, slow down the pace a little :)
thats so exciting that your coming to aust!! what part are you heading to, as scootergirl said if you have any free time i would be lovely to meet up :)
im so happy things are going well for you as well!! look at us go, its amazing how much we can achieve when we are focused and determined!!

Hey Abi - would love you to meet my own personal Elvis, plus try to find a few more in Oz with you. Are you coming to Sydney. We could try to organise Jane as well.

Don't worry about 6kgs. I think a person tends to look the same in an outfit with + or - 2 or 3kgs unless they are extremely fitted. No one really noticed when I lost 10kg, but started to when I lost 15kgs.

You are going to look lovely at any weight because it's how you show your caring side that endears you to us.
