Signed up for 2nd 5K - this Sunday!

I’ve signed up for another 5K – for Sunday morning! It’s the Race for the Cure in Seattle as my friend and I (and her 6mth old) are heading there this weekend for shopping and having fun. It starts close to the Space Needle, which is one of my favourite buildings in the world. It’s just so retro and funky.
Last night I was naughty. I went to the final bookclub for the “year” (they start again in the fall) and ate some brownies, chocolatey nut things which were delicious, sticky and full of calories, mini spanikopita, nuts, one lindt ball, a mini-cream puff... oh I was soooo soooo bad but they were sooo sooo good! But, this morning, back with the program. Measuring and tracking, and up again at 5.15am – this time in the rain – for a C25K session.
The C25K session was a repeat of the day 3 from week 1 as I want to make sure I’m ready before progressing to the next intensity level. I forgot my knee support and it was raining so I was clammy. I also forgot to put my hair in a pony tail which I won’t forget again. Not only did my hair stick around my neck but it got very knotty and I had trouble getting those knots out in the shower afterwards.
Today is my last day at work before I can officially start my weekend. Tomorrow we are going to leave around 1pm so I’ll go for a swim in the morning and pick up some photos I’ve had printed. I’ll send them to my gran as it might cheer her up. I’m still waiting to hear if she’s out of hospital yet or what’s happening.
I am SOOO looking forward to the weekend. Shopping without Mark and the girls will be heaven. I hope to get myself some nice things, including a summer coat for wearing to work. I won’t be buying many clothes though as I’m managing with my current stuff and I don’t want to buy anything new until I need to. I also have to get Mark a little something for his birthday next week. I’m also looking forward to going for coffee, healthy brunches and just walking around the shops.
I’m hoping that my friend won’t mind if I do my own thing during the race as I’m keen to do another C25K session – and perhaps beat my time of 40.05 minutes set last weekend. She is probably going to bring her jogging stroller and she is a runner so I’m hoping she’ll want to go faster than me anyway as she has been running for years.
It looks like there will be a few of us for the seawall 10K in July – but that will be just a walk. I’m not planning to run at all as it will be a social day trip thing rather than racing and training. I want to be able to run the full 5K before I start trying to “race” in a 10K.
As for the weekend, I’m hoping to be able to track my food and not go crazy. We won’t be going out binge drinking anyway as we have Amanda’s baby with us but hopefully I can find a good balance to not over-indulge but not have to limit my fun and enjoyment. I will most likely burn off lots of calories walking around the shops ;o)
