Mish mash of thoughts and ideas - and anyone have any eczema tips for kids?

This morning I was lazy and didn’t get up to go for a C25K session. My legs are still a bit sore so I thought I’d give them a break and go for my workout tomorrow instead. Last night was Zumba which was great, and hard on the calves! I don’t feel any additional soreness today but I decided I’ll do the run tomorrow instead. Tonight I’ll probably do some recumbent bike work as I’ve not used it for about a week with my Seattle trip and evening exercise classes.

I’ve just “signed up” for the 21 day No Binge Eating challenge as suggested by JANEZAP. I hope this challenge will work well for me! This is my big downfall. I’m finding that I’m increasingly hungry these days, probably because of the additional exercise. I’ve amended my fitness schedule to show additional exercise and it’s “given” me more calories. I will try to eat at the bottom of the range when my exercise is less than 30 minutes, but when it’s more than 30, I will eat at the top of the range. If I am focussing on the No Binge Eating, I will be able to “spend” my calories on healthy snacks instead, extra veggies and maybe a cheese stick and the occasional skinny cow chocolate truffle bar!

I’m considering signing up for the Delta Half Marathon in 2 months time. It’s a flat course and they promote it as being great for beginners and also for those who want to improve their times because it is so flat. I checked last year’s results and the slowest person finished in 3hrs 20 mins. Which is about 1km each 10 minutes. For the 5Ks I’ve been making about 1km in 8 minutes. I have two months to train for it which is not a whole heap of time but it’s doable if I settle on an interval training approach for the race I think. I don’t have to sign up yet, so I will see how I feel about it in a couple of weeks. I’m trying to get my friend to come along too... maybe my Zumba friend as well... Perhaps I’ll try the distance in a month just to see how I go. I’m going to do a 10k as a walk with Mark and the girls (in a stroller) in mid July.

Last night for dinner I had a healthy burger and salad. I love the summer time when we can bbq most nights. I need to get working on making salads to take to work instead of frozen lean cuisine style meals. I’ve switched my milk in the morning to Almond milk which is quite nice and have added hemp hearts and ground flax seeds to my Go Lean cereal. I’ve also halved the raisins I add as they are carbolicious and I’m always over on carbs. It’s working nicely to keep me satisfied in the mornings. I’m toying with the dairy free idea as it helped me when I did it years ago. It’s just hard. I’ve bought some dairy free soy cheese to try... but Skinny Cows are not dairy free... I wonder if I freeze lactose free yogurts they will be the same as frozen regular yogurt? Or I guess I will just have to find a “sugar free” sorbet instead. I’m going to use up the skim milk cheese first, and will eat all the skinny cows in the fridge before I start being properly dairy free. I will do it for one month and see whether I get any benefit on the scales but also health wise.

Tomorrow we are going camping again. I am really going to try to eat healthy all weekend. I will use the campground’s free wifi to track my food on my iphone this time. I might have a few drinks but will not go crazy... perhaps stick to one bottle of wine for the two nights. I’m also going to go for a C25K workout one morning. And no binge eating!

I weighed myself a day early today and have lost 0.4lbs again this week. I guess it’s progress, no matter how slow it is and it’s in the right direction. I was just hoping for a little more... I think the binge eating challenge will really help.

Now I need to google eczema as I think my 4 year old has it. It's just a bit on her back and her inner elbows. I know Mark had it as a child and sometimes gets it a little now. I want to see if diet can help and what other things we can try to help her. I think I read that salmon and oily fish can help but I can’t remember... If anyone has any ideas, please let me know! I will change our laundry liquids and will get a more skin friendly bubble bath for her.

    Eczema.....2 of my kiddos have it. I mix Glaxal base with a small amount of cortisone cream and glycerin. No stinging. I also get them the oatmeal baby wash ( non of them are babies now). Good luck!
    As for everything else you have going on, wow, busy lady!

    Any loss is a good thing when it comes to weight. Ooh camping, have fun and relax there. Also good luck with your challenge.

    i think the 21 day no binge eating will help both of us :)

    the race sounds exciting and i dont think you should be worried about the 'slowest time' from last year cause you are doing it for you, not to beat anyone else but only to beat yourself! who cares if it takes all day! just think about how good your going to feel when its over and you can smile and say "I HAVE COMPLETED A HALF MARATHON!" plus you have two months to train im sure you will improve lots in that time! just look at how much more of a runner you have become in the last 2months!!
