Weights and Measures! Woo hoo For Me!

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

Today I’m not feeling so sore. Yes, when I’ve been sitting at my desk and get up to refill my glass or go on one of the many bathroom breaks required as a result of drinking so much water, my legs are stiff – so I’m trying to stretch and rub them as much as I can during the day. I’m feeling more confident in my ability to complete the half marathon today as a result.

Last night I was such a good girl! I weighed my steak and measured my rice! I kept track of everything and went under for calories (but within the range) and was within the ranges for carbs, fats and protein! Woo hoo to me! That’s two days in a row! Perhaps I don’t need Weightwatchers after all... I’ll pocket the money I would have spent on meeting fees and put it towards the wedding outfit! I’m also now on a successful day 5 of no binge eating. We have the same dinner tonight as instead of using two of the large steaks, I cut one third off for me and weighed it. Mark had the rest – so we have one more tonight. It was delicious. It’s definitely worth paying extra for good steak. Mark, who normally doesn’t like steak, really enjoyed it.

I bumped our neighbour’s daughter’s car yesterday – she’d parked it in a silly place anyway giving me hardly any room to get out, but that’s no excuse. Anyway, she’s going to call today to tell me how much the garage quote is. Hopefully it’s not crazy as the car is old.

I’ve also decided to take a look at the double jogging stroller on Craigslist. My friend said she sold hers for more than this person is asking for so if we’re careful we will probably not lose money on it when we sell it again. We need something stronger for our walks through the local trails and it also means if Mark joins me sometimes in races, he can try some jogging too. Our current one is weak at the legs and the wheels are all a bit wonky. I don’t think it will stand up to much more “off-roading”.

Tonight is Zumba – hopefully the Canucks will start to play better tonight and will have the game wrapped up in regular time! I wouldn’t want to miss it but as I’m not a full on native Vancouverite, Zumba takes precedence. We only have two classes left with Lugio. We start again in a couple of weeks at a different rec. centre so it’s probably someone else.

I think I will try to increase the length of my C25K workouts – I have found an interval training app that was free and will try that, basing it on the C25K plan but increase the duration as I need to start increasing my distance. 8 ½ weeks will be gone in a flash and before I know it, I’ll be behind the starting line in Ladner, waiting for the gun to go off and peeing my pants!!! I’ve requested a couple of books from the library on running so hopefully I will get some good tips in those.

Anyway, have a great day Spark Friends. Yesterday was a bit low because of the car bump but Mark was sweet about it (and also scratched the car himself getting the new carpet off the roof). I just have my fingers crossed it won’t be expensive to get the other car fixed.

Great job on the nutrition! I hope the car wasn't much of an expense. I'm planning to run a HM this fall. What interval training app are you using?

You've done an awesome job of staying in your calorie range and avoiding binge eating! Good for you! I hope the car thing works out OK--it's a headache at the time, but soon it will be over with.

Great job on weighing your food! I have the BOB double jogging stroller and it is AWESOME, but very pricey. Hope the car won't be too much!
