I can’t believe it’s been a week since my last blog! Where has the time gone!
I re-read my last blog and I remembered the soreness in my knees. It is so much better since I saw my chiropractor on Friday. She adjusted my back, neck and left knee. The left knee is not the one that’s been fractured multiple times and had multiple surgeries but it was obviously struggling with the increase in my exercise and the impact of the C25K program. My chiro said that it was tendon pain and she gave me some homeopathic gel to use on both knees which appears to be working. Since she adjusted my knee the pain has greatly reduced although it is still pretty sore.
Today I didn’t get up for a C25K session and I feel like I’ve missed out! Because I skipped a run on Sunday, I did one on Monday and then another on Tuesday morning! I don’t feel too bad considering I did two mornings in a row. I am still only doing about 35 minutes each morning and I really need to increase my distance. I should use my new interval training app tomorrow instead and set it up for 40 minutes and see how I go. Then I’ll get back before Mark leaves for work and get the girls ready for daycare. Then I’ll go for a swim. Tonight is Zumba – our last class with Lugio :o( I liked him. Next week we’re probably going to try the more expensive drop in class before we start our next set of classes at a different rec center.
Last Friday I weighed myself and I’d lost 0.7kgs which I’m fairly pleased with (that’s 1.5lbs to my US and Canadian Sparkie friends). Ideally I would like to lose an average of 1kgs (2.2lbs) per week before the race on the 14th August as it would be nice to be doing those intervals with 8kgs less to carry. I can’t imagine carrying the 8kgs in a backpack – I’d never make it!
The weekend wasn’t so great food wise. We had Greek take out on Friday as Mark’s mum arrived from the UK. It was a nice meal and even though I am sure calorie wise I would have been quite over my target I think it was balanced with a 30 minute C25K session and a 50 minute swim in the morning. On Saturday we had friends over for a bbq... Although I did eat some chips – I didn’t binge and the main course was healthy, grilled marinated pork with salad and a little potato salad (light mayonnaise) the dessert was not... My friend baked an awesome Chocolate and Orange cake which she served with ice-cream. It was delicious but I made her take the half cake and the ice-cream home with her at the end of the night! We also played wii dance games which was better than sitting down drinking more and eating more.
On Sunday we took Mark’s mum out to our local pub and I treated myself to an ostrich burger and chips. Yes, I ate some chips but not all of them. I got Mark to put the plate on another table before I did! It was unhealthy, I know but it was what I wanted and I’ll live with the consequences!
I’m only in work two days this week and tomorrow I have the day off with Mark’s mum. Things are going pretty well with her so far but she upset Kerensa yesterday by teasing her a little. Kerensa is a bit sensitive sometimes so I explained it to Mark’s mum and hopefully she won’t do it again. Gwenna is so different – and would just laugh most likely. After my exercise, we are going to beautiful Deep Cove for lunch with my friend and her mum. It will be lovely to wander around the little shops without Mark – who’s allergic to any kind of shopping, but I’m sure that gift shops must bring him out in a rash or something as he won’t ever go in them.
Then we leave for Penticton for the Elvis Festival on Friday morning. I’m looking forward to it. We’re camping nearby so hopefully the weather will be good. I will check the forecast now... Woo hoo! A little colder than average but dry! Last time I checked they said it was going to rain. Thank you. Thank you very much! Uh huh. I will have to make sure I make good choices when we eat out, which we will be doing for lunch for sure. But breakfasts and dinners we will cook at the campsite so hopefully we can get lots of salads in and grill some lean meats and fish.
I seem to have forgotten about my small mini-goals recently... the getting within my limits for cals,carbs,fats and proteins 3 times minimum a week (but I think I’m doing that anyway now I’ve mixed things up a little –thank you cheese strings and almonds!), I’m not binge eating (Thank you 21 Day No Binge Eating Challenge – I’m on day 12) although my weight is not going down as much as I’d like, it’s going down. My waist measurement has gone up a little in the past month which is frustrating but I’m sure it will work itself out.
So, all in all it’s been a good week so far. I am yet to start the Determined Diva summer challenge but will get right onto that this evening with my jumping jacks! I am feeling more confident about my upcoming half marathon following my visit to my chiropractor and I feel that I am getting stronger... but why is it that I did a big wash yesterday, washed my work pants and then dropped drinking yogurt down them first thing this morning! Who left an opened bottle of it in the fridge?!? Grrrr!
