HM training, Day 1 - I joined the PeTAPack!

So it begins! My first half marathon is 12 weeks away, and I figured I would join one of those "team in training" groups for a little added motivation, hehe. After perusing several worthy causes, my heart kept leading me back to something involving animal rights. Which of course, lead me to PeTA. While I admit that I think some of their activists are a little extreme, I do fully support what PeTA stands for! And they also just happened to have a 12-week training program ;)

Day 1: 2-mile easy run.

Unfortunately, the golf course was (as usual) way too crowded, and it was too late to go out gallivanting anywhere else, so I headed into the garage to the treadmill. It wasn't a very easy run in the 100-degrees, but I did it :)

P.S. I'm at over a month now as a vegetarian. I've had no desire for any kind of meat or eggs, but I'm not quite dairy-free (yet).

    oh. really upset you chose peta. peta is really for removing ALL animals as pets. More than just a few of their members are 'extreme'. There is a lot of info out there. They should not have the tax status that they have.

    There are many other animal organizations that would benefit from your endeavours than peta.

    Good for you on your HM! It is great to have a goal to drive that training - really gives you a purpose. Personally I detest PETA as they endorse euthanizing American Pit Bull Terriers on criteria of breed alone. But let's not make this post about that... I have been vegetarian for ~19 months and just moved off dairy about a month ago. So really close to vegan. It gets easier over time as you learn new recipes and discover how vibrant and rich a plant based diet can be. I'm a powerlifter, not a runner so I'd recommend checking out http://www.nomeatathlete.com - the writers are vegetarian runners and multi-sport athletes. A lot of very good information on the site.

    Now, if we could just figure out how to use golf courses for everything except golfing...

    I'll admit it - of course I support animals causes, but I really don't lime PETA. But I support YOU, and am happy you have a cause to motivate you. The heat is why I run early in the morning if I'm running outside - kudos for just doing it! Start researching some alternate routes!

    How dare they fill up your golf course.
