FOUR days to Half Marathon!
Wednesday, August 10, 2011
It’s Wednesday. Hump day. At this time in 4 days I’ll be nearly 2 hours into my half marathon... roll on lunchtime I say!
This week I have done some running on Sunday and Tuesday. I was pleased with my sessions both days. On Sunday I did my own thing on the treadmill, doing longer intervals than I ever thought possible! Intervals of 8 minutes, running at 5.3mph! Wow! I am amazed! I had no idea that my body would get this much better in a fairly short space of time – and even with a couple of weeks off, I don’t seem to have gone backwards at all. My breathing is not too bad and after the 45 minutes on Sunday, I actually felt like I could carry on if I wanted too!
On Monday I had my circuit training class.
On Tuesday, I settled back into a W4D3 C25K session, which was a lot easier. The maximum run was 5 minutes. I supercharged it and did an additional 7 minutes in total, and increased the 3 minute runs to four. I would have gone longer but my lower calf was a bit sore. I went upstairs limping and stretched – but couldn’t find a stretch that I could feel in the area... I then laid on the couch and watched most of Barney’s Version while icing my calf. This morning it feels much better.
I set my alarm for 5.10am and was going to get up for another 35 minute C25K session but decided to have a rest day instead... I’ll go for a 20 minute walk at lunch instead. Tomorrow I WILL get up at 5.10! That’s twice this week I’ve snoozed it and done the running session later in the day instead! I need to get my rhythm back!
I weighed myself today... down 0.3kgs which is great. I hope to keep it going in the right direction. Food wise I’ve been a little binge-ey... not too bad. Yesterday I made some excellent choices and we had baked salmon for dinner. I had a way smaller portion than usual.
OK. Now I have a meeting so I must get back to work. Have a wonderful day Spark friends. I really love this community and the encouragement I get and enjoy giving. Good luck in all your endeavours today and all week! Let’s all keep those scales heading in the right direction!
