Day 1: Jump Start Flat Belly Diet

Day one of the 4 day Jump Start to my Flat Belly Diet...

I thought I would write this blog throughout the day so it can track how I’m feeling!

Last night I was able to mix up the Sassy Water before bed. For interested Sparkers, the recipe is:
2litres water.
1 tsp freshly grated ginger.
1 cucumber peeled and thinly sliced (I used half an English cucumber).
12 mint leaves (I put more in I think).
1 lemon thinly sliced.

You put everything in a jug in the fridge overnight. In the morning, you strain it and there you have it – Sassy Water. It tastes... well, different. I’ve read reviews that some people love it. I can’t say I do but it’s OK. I’m to drink the entire 2 litres today and 2 litres of the same every day. It’s meant to help with bloating.

I was kind of excited to step on the scales this morning and I was down 1kgs from last week which is a great result again! Woo hoo to me! I wonder if I will get a bigger loss from this diet next Wednesday.

I packed my lunch after my shower. I weighed and measured everything and was surprised how much 4oz of deli turkey actually is!

Breakfast I had to split because I ran out of time.

1 cup rice-crispies with 1 cup skim milk – simple, I thought... no – I didn’t realise there are “Holiday Rice Crispies” which include red and green rice crispies! Luckily they are just coloured and not sugared and most of them were the regular colour. I was supposed to buy corn flakes as well, but we rarely eat this kind of cereal so it’ll be Holiday Rice Crispies tomorrow as well.

This was not particularly filling. I didn’t have time to eat the rest until I got to work:
½ cup applesauce (unsweetened)
¼ cup sunflower seeds.

8.50am.
I’m at work and slowly eating the sunflower seeds. I’m craving my chewing gum (or I was until I remembered I had the sunflower seeds to eat) already. I’ve drank nearly half of the Sassy water. I’m feeling a little nervous that I will be hungry all day. I’m having to wait until tonight for my “snack” as it doesn’t really fit timewise into my day and I can’t really make a smoothie at work (although it is just skim milk and frozen berries with flax seed oil, which they didn’t have at the supermarket so I’ll have to use ground flaxseed instead unless I go to the health food store after work some how but we have circus skills for Kerensa and possibly circuit training for me...).

I’ll sign off for now. I think this will be a long blog so apologies in advance!

10.11am.
Feeling a little empty but not too bad. Missing my gum! I think it might be the taste of the sassy water that’s making me want the gum even more!

1.35pm.
Had my lunch at 1pm but didn’t do the 5 minute after meal walk. The lunch was OK. I ate a punnet of grape tomatoes, 1 cheese string and 4oz organic deli turkey. I’m now drinking the sassy water. I think it’s the sassy water that makes me what the gum... it’s got mint in it and it’s a bit bitter... whereas the mint choc chip gum is sweet.... mmm... I think a meeting between 11 and 12.30 helped by distracting me from thinking about food.

I’m supposed to have no more than 4 hours between meals but this is going to be difficult tonight. I have to go home then take my daughter to Circus Skills class. I’ll then get a quick half hour at home to eat before my circuit training class... I will have to get Mark to cook my dinner I think.

3.30pm.
I have 30 minutes until I finish work – yay! I’m not feeling too hungry, a little bit I guess – and I sure am craving my mint choc chip gum! I didn’t realise how much I relied on it at work! I’m going to dash home and hopefully get dinner cooked and eaten before having to take my daughter to Circus class (in less than 30 minutes!). If I can’t eat it at home, I will pack it to take with me to eat while I’m watching! Then I’ll have my snack after Circuit training before bed. I read that I don’t need the flaxseed oil, I can substitute it with sunflower seeds so I’ll do that and have them with the smoothie.

So, I’ll finish my blog for Day 1 here. I promise to write less tomorrow!

    i have a gum addiction too!!!!! that sassy water seems ahh interesting hehe i will have to buy some ginger next time im at the shops and try it out! im loving this blog keep them coming!!! i can so totally imagine Kerensa having the best time at circus skills! if she wants to run away and join the circus when shes older tell her i'll join her it sounds like so much fun!!!

    I loved this BLOG! The "sassy water" sounds errr well not very "sassy" like we are! LOL Does it smell? I think I would have an issue with the smell big time! Like plugging my nose before I chug! HAHA I like how you updated each meal or when you want your gum! I will go CRAZY like NUTSO CRAZY without my gum!!! I better pick up the pace before you beat me to the finish line!! You are kicking butt and taking names later!! That trip you toko got you all energized! I better make sure to STAY ON TOP of my workouts so I don't come back to a SKINNY MINNY ABI - well I want you to be skinny but not without ME! hahahahahahaha

    Keeping this blog is an excellent idea. You'll be able to go back and reread and see how eating is affected by the way you are feeling.

    I love your blog. I'm sorry, but every time I read, "I want my gum," I laugh. Did you know that there is some gum you can buy that is only 5 calories per stick? It is what they recommend on the Biggest Loser. I think its extra, but don't quote me. You might be able to google it. Sorry.
