Flat Belly Diet – end of Week 1; Good news bad news
Thursday, November 17, 2011
Well, here I am, lighter! At the end of week 1 (I started on my weigh in day which was convenient!) I was down 2.7lbs which is great. I’m down a little more today (total weight lost on Flat Belly diet in 8 nights = 3.6lbs). Woo hoo!
So far I’m liking the plan. Last night though - I was bad... I had a snack fest while I was watching The Tudors on DVD... and had 2 pieces of Halloween candy... 2 squares of dark chocolate... some peanuts... some dried prunes (yes, really!)... I was tired. I was alone... I was a crazy woman! I went over my highest calorie range by 100 calories and I did zero exercise all day. But I did track it all. So a mini-woo hoo I guess.
The plan... it’s 4 x 400 calorie meals per day, each one must have a serve of mufa (mono-unsaturated fatty acids). The book (Flat Belly Diet by Prevention magazine) is great – except it doesn’t give you the amount of actual mufa that constitutes a serve. It gives you portions of each food and their calories but doesn’t say what grammage you should be reaching per day of mufa.
I like the 4 x 400 calorie meals. Before going on this plan, I was eating less than 350 per meal with no focus on mufas. I was snacking a lot more. This plan is a bit more restrictive and I have been “bending the rules” slightly. I have my regular breakfast but supplement it with 10 almonds. I eat the almonds after breakfast – as an early morning snack. I then have lunch, then a small snack (usually a granola bar) for about 120 calories in the afternoon before dinner and then the remaining calories of my snack allowance before bed. I’m happy to continue this plan for the 32 days it recommends and then I’ll measure myself again to see how many inches I might have lost from my belly!
Unfortunately I was told that my contract was not being renewed at the end of January so I am now looking for a job. We are pretty broke at the moment so it’s not a great time for this news. I’m searching for something else but what I do is pretty specialised and I’ve got most of my jobs though people I know... but that was in Sydney and Vancouver is a very different city and I don’t have many professional contacts here. I got this job through my only one! They have said that they want me to come back for a month in April and then another later in the year – with more work starting at the end of the year and through into 2013... however, this doesn’t really pay the mortgage this year so I will have to keep looking for something new. I will most likely lose my part-time hours too and will probably have to go full time, which will make it harder at home to manage. However, we shall see what happens. I am a firm believer in things happening for a reason.
I’ve also got in touch with the clerk from the local council where I grew up – and where my mum grew up and where we lived as a family for my childhood. My parents returned to the area when I was living in London. We can put a memorial seat in the village for mum and dad so I’m so happy about that. We are just waiting on a council meeting in December to get approval on the actual spot but the clerk said there should be room where I want it. I hope our financial situation improves by the summer as I would love to go for my gran’s 90th birthday and to go and sit on the seat.
Anyway, it’s Thursday today. This weekend should be another easy one. Mark is going snowboarding on Saturday so I will be home with the girls. I plan to do some baking with them. I also want to get the final leaves raked and do some more household organising, starting with my desk which appears to have become a dumping ground!
Have a great end of the week Sparkly Friends! I hope you have a nice weekend planned?
