Day 5 Eat to live - some progress!
Wednesday, March 28, 2012
I was kind of writing in advance of my review for the day – and ended up being too busy yesterday to write my day 5 but as it was actually on day 5 I don’t think it matters. It’s now day 6 so I can truly review day 5!
In the morning I was correct – I had gained weight, but just a little - 0.2kgs.
Yesterday I ate pretty much the same as the day before. I went for a smaller bowl of oatmeal and blueberries with a splash of almond milk. This was followed by a smoothie:
½ large frozen banana
1 cup almond milk
Large handful strawberries
1 tsp peanut butter.
This new breakfast is definitely working for me. I don’t get hungry (bar a couple of small healthy snacks) until my lunch at 1pm – which is great considering I eat my breakfast before 6.40am.
For morning snacks I have about ½ oz almonds and an apple or other small piece of fruit.
Lunch was the same – the lentil stew after a big salad. I had a half corn cob too and followed it all with a grapefruit and a plum.
In the afternoon I ate a tiny mandarin and an apple.
Dinner was a repeat of yesterday – the chilli but this time over kale, half an avocado and half a whole wheat pita. I had to take my daughter to her first Sparks meeting (this is the youngest Girl Guides) in the evening so it was handy that there was left over chilli.
And the weigh in this morning – I was down 0.5kgs!!! Woo hoo! This means a total loss of 1kgs (2.2lbs) in 5 days.
I’m feeling good – great. No headaches – although I’m not convinced this was caffeine withdrawals as I don’t have any cafe on non-working days – so I wouldn’t have had any coffee for a few days at that point anyway. My popped rib, now un-popped is a little worse than yesterday which is disappointing. I was hopeful that I was well on the way to recovery yesterday but I feel like it’s gone back a few steps again. I am still hoping to do a virtual 5K Diva Dash on Sunday. I don’t think it will be very fast though!
But I am a little tired. I’ve not been sleeping well. I tried going to be later last night but still kept waking up. Our little one, Gwenna, got in with us at 2.30am – although I managed to get her back in her own bed after an hour – that I was awake for unfortunately! I am hoping that a massage I have booked for tonight will help. I’m going to get her to avoid my rib and just work on back and hips as I am so sore again. I am looking forward to the day when my bad knee won’t be as bad as I will be slim and light on my feet!
I’ve borrowed Skinny Bitch from the library and am looking forward to reading it – but I have to finish my book club book first. It’s Annabel by Kathleen Winter and I’ve read it before but it’s a good read and I can’t remember all about it. I also got a delivery yesterday from Amazon – my own copy of “Eat To Live” which has been updated and includes new recipes, yippee! Also “The Vegan’s daily Companion” which I need to sit down and take a proper look at as it’s not a recipe book but a helpful guidance book. The final one is “Better Than Peanut Butter & Jelly: Quick Vegetarian Meals Your Kids Will Love!” and I’m hoping for big things from this book!!! I just hope it doesn’t rely on dairy too much.
While I was writing this I got an email from the council clerk from my old village. The memorial seat for my parents has arrived but is not right – it was supposed to have a plaque on it but they’ve engraved the wood instead. However, the lettering looks really large and I like it. I will confirm whether my brother is happy with it and then give her my OK. She also sent photos of the place where it will go and the view – and it’s perfect. I really hope that my trip to the UK in September happens so I can go with Gwenna and sit on it to enjoy the view. It looks like a beautiful seat and I hope people will enjoy sitting there enjoying the place my parents loved.
