Happy New Year 2013

Monday, December 31, 2012

The New Year is upon us once again, and it is time for revisiting 2012, pondering some, and making goals and plans for 2013.

Isn't "ponder" a wonderful word? Deep thinking, soul searching, reminiscing, wondering...pondering.

Since I've joined SP, I've lost 42 pounds, numerous inches, and have acrued almost 7,000 Fitmess minutes. All in 177 days (I counted). It boggles my mind truly. If you had told me in May or June of 2012 that I would have accomplished this I would not have believed you, and yet, here I am.

SO...what to plan for 2013? My logical mind is saying, well, if you lost 42 pounds in 177 days, surely you can lose twice that amount in 365 days. That would make sense, right? AH!!! But I am afraid to actually put that down in bold blue as a goal, because I know how fickle the human body can be. And, if I DO say I want to lose another 84 pounds in 365 days, that would mean I would be below 200 pounds for the first time since high school, and I can't seem to wrap my mind around that no matter HOW much I ponder.

SO, I am going to compromise a bit and stick to my original goal of reaching 200. I think that is attainable and a worthy goal.

HOW am I going to do that? This is my plan:

1. Use Spark People every day. I aim to earn 100 spark points every day (I do that now); use the Nutrition Tracker and the Fitness Tracker every day; huddle, chat and support with my team members every day.

2. Continue to learn as much as I can about nutrition and fitness. I read all of the articles I can every day, take the quizzes, and read the daily spark blogs.

3. Continue to fine tune my everyday habits: drink 10-12 glasses of water daily, eat 6+ servings of fruits and vegetables daily, exercise daily, get at least 7 hours of sleep a night.

4. Be consistent.

5. Stay focused.

6. Fitness: There are certain things that I know I love to do and I want to incorporate them into my fitness program. I also know that sometimes I get bored with routine, so I want to plan for that. I already enjoy:
A. circuit training
B. recumbant bike
C. rowing (well it isn't really rowing, it's on a tower, but it's the closest thing my gym has at the moment)

I want to take classes this year in:
A. Hooping
B. Zumba
C. Qi Gong or Tai Chi
I am very fortunate in that my community has an Adult School where they usually offer classes in 2 out of the 3 activities I want to learn how to do. The new semester begins in February!

I've registered for the BLC21 and I'm also participating in 2 other challenges through 2 different spark teams in January.

These are my goals and plans for the next 12 months. I know it's going to be more work than the first 5, but I am prepared, and I have a wonderful support system behind me all the way: Spark People!!

Happy New Year!!

Congratulations on all of your success!!! AWESOME!

I understand what you mean, about being a little hesitant to double that # for double the days. As you get closer and closer to goal, the rate of loss can slow. It's happening to me, but (other than holiday indulgences) it IS still going down.

I think it's good to remember, too, that it's a journey. Even thought we have a goal weight, or time frame in may not work that way. BUT as long as we keep making those good choices, day after day, we WILL get there! The other option is to make poor choices and go backwards, and we sure don't want that! lol!

    Keep going! You're doing AWESOME!!!!!!

Write down that goal of 77 or 84 more pounds emoticon

Love the ideas of the new classes. I'm picking new classes to start this month in Princeton, too. You are such a great motivator - let's keep it up in the NEW YEAR!
