Blog #6 Do you need motivation or advice?

I have to say that the challenge itself is very motivating for me. The blogging each day has also been motivating. The only advice/question that I have is what do you do besides drinking lots of water and staying busy to curb your appetite?

    Stay busy and keep your hands busy, most of all. Eat foods that have a lot of water but not many calories, like carrots, celery, greens, and all of the low-carb veggies. Fiber and fats fill you up, too. I like a wasa wholegrain crispbread with a TBS of sugar-free peanut or almond butter to fill me up.

    When I was the correct weight, I was doing things that I wanted to do MORE than I wanted to eat. I didn't eat until my stomach growled and sometimes I would skip meals simply because I wasn't hungry. Being hungry is a sensation that I forgot for years. I enjoy meals so much more when I am hungry and everything tastes better when I am hungry, too. I found that planning my meals tends to make me feel obligated to eat them even if I am not hungry and am overcoming that urge. Now I just delete what is left when I am finished for the day and don't push myself to eat more than I am comfortable eating.

    I wish I had the answer to that one. Pre-portioning out food has helped me, but I still binge, even when I am not hungry. My daughter says to eat until you are 80% full.

    I make sure I eat plenty of protein and fiber to ward off the hunger.

    Head hunger is such a pain! When it comes to overcoming it, the first thing to do is recognize it for what it is, then why it's happening, then, if self-talk doesn't take it away, I do things like pray, read scripture, read a good book, work on crotcheting, really anything that will take my mind off my body! If your body is hungry, feed it! Depending on when it is, a glass of orange juice, or even water may be the right thing, or fruit or veggies, or I have low cal. snacks I keep around for those real hunger times. Also if it is true hunger, it goes away, only to come back in about an hour, if it's head hunger, it never leaves cuz it isn't your body yelling at you, it's your head!!!! End of sermon!

    I agree with the fruit and veg comment. I also think it's true that putting lemon in your water somehow helps curb the appetite. For me, I use gum. I chew a lot of gum (always sugar free). I think having something for my mouth to do really helps me.

    If I'm hungry, I eat. If I'm bored; I find something to do! I don't keep things around that I shouldn't eat; like others have said that means a lot of fruit and veggies and I have to make sure I get plenty of protein. Dairy, nuts, greek yogurt etc. My main motivation is that I really like the way I feel! emoticon

    I try to eat lots a fruits and veggies since they are more filling. I guess that doesn't necessarily curb my appetite but it does help all the way around.
