From Fear to Triumph!

Here's my Disclaimer: I am a sucker for kid things....super slides, slip 'n slides, swingsets, kickballs, and primary colors!

So...when my niece and BFF MichCleary asked me to do the Foam Fest 5K and I saw pictures of slides and soap suds, and big colored bouncy balls hanging down, how could I say no?

I have to say, I think this may be the most fun, and the most rewarding event I've done so far on my journey toward a healthy and active life!

A few people know that I made a commitment to do P90X2 on January 1, for 90 days. I've started and 'failed to finish' many things in my life, exercise programs included. Can you relate? This time, I knew in my heart that it was REALLY important that I finish this 90 matter what. I started out having gained over 20 lbs in the months leading up to Christmas. It had been one of my most discouraging periods over the past 4 years, as far as my health habits were concerned.

There was ALOT that I couldn't do in P90X2...but it didn't matter! I did what I could...and day by day, week by week, month by month, I learned I could do more. And I connected the is in the DOING OF THE THING that we grow. Even when we can't yet DO THE THING.

So, not only am I a starter...I am now a FINISHER! I start things that I can't do, or am afraid I can't do...and because I keep going, I grow and get better. And I finish. I don't stop because of my fears, but fears are still there. Fear is there for all of us, but we can't stop because we're afraid.

Like this...I was afraid to climb it, and afraid to fall...

But I climbed it anyway...the 1st obstacle. Then came this...and my fear was increased...

When you climb an 8-ft really is a long way's scary, and I was scared of falling. What a gift to climb the wall anyway...jump down, and find friends there to cheer me on and "high five" the moment!

Conquering our fears is such a boost to our spirits! Since I first started my weight loss journey in 2009, I have lived alot with my fear of gaining all the weight back. I think in a lot of ways, I've always let fear get the best of me...I guess I'm so grateful for the impact of P90X in my life because it has helped me to beat back the fear, and to change the way I see myself. I don't believe I would have climbed these walls without doing P90X...I really don't. But I didn't just climb the walls, I did lots of other crazy stuff too, and had a blast doing it!

We crawled through mud... , slid merrily along on grown-up slip 'n slides, and for our big moment, we climbed this 3 story inflated super slide and dropped straight down!

And then, they gave us medals!!

So, if you're not sure you can 'do it,' whatever IT is...maybe you can't now, but start doing the thing anyway! Don't let fear hold you back...don't let your limits right now hold you back. If I can help you or encourage you, send me a note. Nothing is more fun or more rewarding than sharing someone else's journey, and helping a friend reach their goal!
