Quick update....

Monday, January 19, 2015

I'm still doing fairly well. I have not seen the scale move one bit and waist size is the same. But, I think I look trimmer and the belly doesn't seem to hang over the pants like it did. How is that possible? Anyway, that's what I see. And, I continue to feel good; stronger, healthier. Just wish I could "see" some results!! This is when it gets tough for me to keep going. I hit that "why bother" wall. This time I will continue to make the decisions and try to push through.
I'm still pleased with the coach. She has had some interesting insights for me to think about. I really liked my senior aerobics class. It was just right for me. Some very nice ladies. I did feel good after the class--I'd forgotten that feeling of good fatigue following a class. Like it! So my first challenge right now is to keep making that decision to exercise. The fitbit helps so I'm moving forward!
I'm really focused on eliminating the negative self-talk. Every time I start, I try to replace it with positives. I find this to be very difficult so it's taking a lot of effort to remember this and do it!!! I think this will be a huge help if I can get this under control.
I'm also seeing that I'm staying too high in my calorie range. I need to be more aware of this and try to cut back. I haven't gone over but would like to see that calorie count down by at least 200 calories.
And, the most important news of my life. My daughter in law is in the hospital. They decided to induce and started last night with meds to help her efface; this morning the Pitocin started. My son called at 7:30 and contractions were picking up in speed and intensity. I'm sure she has a ways to go but at least things are moving. I'm praying for a speedy, easy labor for her and for a healthy baby. We don't know the gender so that makes things even more exciting!

    Congratulations on the new grandbaby!!!

As for the negative self-talk - boy do I know that place. I have read (although never personally tried it) that cognitive behavioral therapy is excellent for this problem.

The water aerobics sounds like fun! I wish I lived closer to humanity sometimes - I'd love to try that. And I'm glad you like your FitBit - I have the Flex (I lost too many Ones) and am very happy with it.

You sound like you're doing pretty well, which is very, *very* nice to hear.

I bet by now you are a grandma again. Congratulations!! Your dance card is filling up fast. LOL. Let's us know what you got.

It sounds like you are still doing really well. I think this will definitely pay off for you. I'm making an effort too. It sure is tiring.

Wow Beth, what an exciting day! Prayers for that darling, healthy baby to be in grandma's arms very soon!
Thank you for sharing your most recent path so honestly! We can all relate. That darned scale. It plagues is all. But, I am finally getting better at putting it at the bottom of my list of reasons to run and do yoga etc. Mental/emotional health, strength and endurance, flexibility and mobility, and kids and grand babies are at the top of my list. I go through that list when I'm out there sweating. Weight falls at the bottom (usually......ha ha)!!!
Sending you love as you add to your family today!!!!!!!!

So glad things are going well for you-
screw the numbers for now and focus on doing all the right things-
and smothering those negative thoughts with positives.
Have you ever heard the Buddhist saying:
Rock yourself in the cradle of loving kindness
I find it helpful when I am feeling self-critical.
    Hoooray on the new baby!
    Keep us posted!
