Communication going Better
Monday, May 04, 2015
Hubby and I got some good communication done yesterday. As we worked through something, (his desire for me to work) it became clear to me that we both tend to make assumptions and misinterpret what point the other person is trying to get across. We've finally gotten to the point where we remain calm while we work through things. I know this issue of my working is not over, but I felt like he actually listened to my side and heard me. He quietly let me get my complete theory out about what my beliefs are about why I am not striving to get a job. He didn't jump right in when I finished, which made me feel like he was truly pondering what I said and was more measured in how he responded. I believe it helped that I prayed about my words before I brought the topic up (while we were on a walk that I invited him to take with me) and said a prayer when I felt I was stumbling with expressing myself. I was calm and shared biblical points of where my beliefs come from. Generally I am not thinking clearly when I try to defend myself. But this time it went well.
As for my eating and exercise, the past days have gone well. At this point I'm mentally in a place of acceptance that I need to do these things to take care of my body and that i am making lifestyle changes that I want to keep long-term. All my life. Sometimes I get rebellious and fight it. I get bored and want to spice things up a bit with a chocolate bar, which leads me into more and more. So I'm taking care to find proper ways of meeting my chocolate or sweet desires without sabotaging my efforts. I am making my own peanut butter cups with unsweetened dark chocolate, sugarless peanut butter, grass-fed butter and stevia melted and put in the tiny candy papers. I keep them in the freezer so they aren't visible, and when I have a craving they are rich and satisfying, I can eat one and walk away.
It has been beautiful weather recently. My peonies started blooming yesterday. I need to bring a couple in and enjoy them. Have a great week!
