So my DH and I have set a huge, enormous, gigantuan goal for ourselves, and particularly for myself. We want to walk the northern route of the CAmino de Santiago in 2018, for our 30th wedding anniversary (not the actual anniversary, which is in February, but sometime between June-Oct).
Aside from the obvious hugeness (over 800 km on hilly terrain in sometimes bad weather) there is the current hugeness - I can hardly walk at all right now, or even stand for 5 minutes without my back killing me.https://sparkpeo.hs.llnwd.net/e1/
I believe a lot of this is due to the weight I gained (over double my "starting weight") while I dealt with cancer, and am determined not only to get that weight off but to get back to doing the things I love doing. Doing the Camino is something that intrigued me way back when I first heard of it (I was about 16 years old), and had since forgotten it.
Then we spent most of July 2015 in that area of Spain, and we love the people we met and the incredible ambiance all the way around. Doing the Camino will be awesome, and we hope that some of the people we met will be able to do parts with us. We will definitely get together with them when we get to Santiago!
(OMG, and now I've put it out there in writing, in public. It's REAL!)
Are there any Sparkers out there that have done the Camino?
