Make sure your "people" are GOOD for you

Yes, diet, exercise and motivation are key; but the people that are in your life are a big factor in the meeting or failure of your goals. Do you have enablers and saboteurs holding you back? Maybe you don't even realize it. Do you have that friend who knows you are trying so hard to lose weight or add fitness for health but they INSIST on bringing cupcakes when they see you. Maybe they suggest going out on the town for dinner and drinks often, knowing that it's hard to properly track nutrition when you haven't cooked something yourself or seen the ingredients. Those drinks really add up. Maybe you have someone saying "I'm too tired to go for a walk, let's sit on the couch and watch tv instead." While there is nothing wrong with that for of person, they can be the ones that help you slowly slip further away from your goals. Make an accountability and fitness buddy! It really does help!
