I Found my Team....

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

Today I was not feeling working out. I was a little down today and wasn't really feeling doing anything. So I contemplated maybe I won't go to the gym today. Maybe I'll just go home and do something on the Wii. That felt like a cop out though( Less intense and doing it because I was being lazy). So in the end I talked myself in to going to the gym and doing my normal routine.
I get to the gym and I'm still a little down and not into the workout routine that I am about to do, but I push it down and start. As I am getting into somewhat of a half hearted workout I start to look around me because I hear some noise that caught my attention. Now on monday evening where I work out the police academy runs the track in the same exact area. They usually all run at the same time but today it seemed they went in small packs at a time. There was a group of them that stood to the side( I think waiting for their turn) and a few of them was now on the track running their laps. As I looked up to see the scene before me I noticed a girl that was a little behind the group that was running on the track. It looked like she was hitting her wall and was having a little bit of a hard time. I looked at her and instantly thought: "That was me, that is exactly how I feel at this moment. Trying to push through this workout and struggling".
Then in the next 30 seconds something amazing happened. All of sudden I noticed a girl running in the opposite direction of the track then she should have been( we go a certain direction each day that is noted on a sign). The first thought was: " What the heck!" Then I heard a bunch of cheering and and clapping from the police academy on the side. Then when I turned back to look at the girl who was running in the wrong direction I noticed she caught up with the girl that was lagging behind. She turned and started running beside her and encouraged her each step of the way. Telling her that she can go this, that she can push herself, she was almost done. In that moment a burst of energy went through the girl that was lagging and all of a sudden she was running full speed ahead, while her team mate ran with her continuously encouraging her while her team mates continued to cheer her on from the side line. She finished strong.
I saw that and my heart swelled. I smiled from ear to ear when I saw that whole scene. I thought back about spark people and how people on here do the same thing for others that the police academy did with the team mate lagging a little behind. I thought of all the encouraging things that people have posted and said to me since I have been on here. I thought of the goals I was trying to achieve and the lifestyle I want to live. All of sudden I was moving faster and working harder in my workout routine. I found my burst of energy, and actually did one of the best workouts since I have started my lifestyle change.
I realized how much I appreciate each and everyone who is in on this journey on this website and even not on this website. It is amazing how words of encouragement help us along in the journey.
I want to personally thank everyone who has shown me kindness and helped me in my journey. I carry your words and encouragement with me, especially when I am not feeling all that into doing what I know needs to be done. Thank you so much, and I hope to be someone's voice and burst of energy when they hit a wall or need a little encouragement as well. I found my team mates in spark people. We are a team, you are my team, and we got this!!

It's hard to get motivated when you are by yourself so I'm just sitting here waiting for him to get home so I can have my cheer squad lol

I know what you mean! I tried starting my routine on my Wii (I'm too self conscious to go to the gym besides I don't have the money to spare right now) and my husband is at work. He cheers me on and makes sure my knees aren't bent and back is straigh

I loved this! It is amazing how a few words of encouragement or a great article enliven me. The weight isn't falling off pounds at a time but every week it is less and spark peoples tools and community definitely help me.
