Working hard on fitness.

The photo is of gym equipment called the Isophit. To me, it resembles a medieval torture device and after my first class, I would say that it feels like that as well. I joined my health insurance's fitness club and started at my local gym last month. I had one session on the Isophit and decided that it would be a good idea to sign up for a class since personal training is out of my financial reach right now. I recognize that fitness on my own is not as effective as guided fitness by a professional. I only push myself so far. I guess it's a matter of knowing yourself. I am the kind of person that works harder to impress others than I do to impress myself (people pleaser) and I am a social person, not a solitary type. I am determined to get my full monies worth out of this program. After day 1 was complete, I was exhausted! Now I have one day to recover and it's back to torture on Thursday. The trainer did a great job of encouraging me and my classmate. The class is supposed to have 4 members, but we started with just 2 which is nice for some more individual attention. My classmate is not new to the device, so he's a little more advanced than I, but I kept up okay, except when it came to the abs! Boy do I have a lot of work to do there. After 5 big babies, these belly muscles are like rubber bands with absolutely no stretch left in them. It is going to be a challenge.

So after my 45 minute session, I'm feeling pretty beat up, but I'm hoping that this is what is going to get me strong and fit. (phit : P)

On the blood sugar front, after my Whole30 AIP, I was feeling a bit entitled to going off the rails. So I did and now I have to work to get my blood sugars back to where they were. For this week I am going to work to get my net carbs to 20 grams/day and clean out the system.

My blood glucose was high this morning and after exercising it was even higher. All that cortisol and adrenaline from the torture had my body working overtime accessing energy stores. Just have to keep doing what I know is right. What I know works.

So that's where I am. This evening I have a "date" with the mister at the gym. Just an evening of listening to how to train smarter with the "free gift" of a personalized session and assessment. Mr. Mattice is not thrilled, but he'll be supportive. So dinner needs to be ready early so that we can make our date. (Bless his heart, he's a good man!)

So now I have to figure out how to move through my day after getting the living daylights kicked out of me. Time to go figure it out.
