10 Years a Sparkin'
Wednesday, December 06, 2017
Yesterday was my 10 year Spark anniversary. All I can say is WOW!!! At the time I was concerned that I was a little old to be embarking on such a journey. Now I am 10 years older. Funny how life works.
The anniversary is somewhat bittersweet because I am not having great success sparking right now. In early 2016 I managed to lose about 15 pounds. I felt so good. I gained back a little bit of that weight, say 5 pounds or so. Well, since the summer I have managed to gain back the rest of my loss, so I am essentially where I was when I started.
The good news is that a: I am back at my start weight for 2016 but I have not exceeded it and b: I am at least 30 pounds thinner than when I first started Sparking on December 4, 2007. With all due respect, my weight was at very much of an all time high at that point, and I think I can confidently say that I will never be there again. But I still have to get a handle on things now.
I do very much appreciate the anniversary wishes.
In other news....
My daughter Sharon married her long time boyfriend Josh last month. It was a small gathering but totally awesome. The weather held out enough to perform the November ceremony at the edge of Wissahickon Creek in Philadelphia. Plenty of ducks and dogs in attendance!!! I just tried posting some pictures (even one), but I am having problems with file size.
Also, I am changing jobs (contracts) after an unheard of 3 1/2 years with the same client. I found another contract and was more or less forced to take it because there does not seem to be any sort of extension forthcoming with my current client. I should be happy; lord knows the prospect of unemployment followed by a miserable contract is not appealing. But I am profoundly sad that my current gig is ending. You have no idea how miserable it is to train my replacement, who is overseas and probably works for a fraction of what I do. I will start the new gig next week.
