Read a very good Spark People article about small goals and setting them as steps toward completion of large goals.

Some that the author wrote about I have listed below.

1. Get up without the snooze. (since I have to take medications every 4 hours, then I know I can achieve it as one of my small goals for each day.)
2. Drink 8 glasses of water. (since I am in a hospital bed with tubes and hoses, the doctors are trying to keep me "flushed" out by increasing my fluid amount to minimum 160 oz per 24 hr. Add to this the steroids and diuretics I am on it is quite a "balancing act" for my blood chemistry, etc.)
3. Eat 2 veggies. (This one is easy. My wife ensures that my food is balanced each day.)
4. Eat 2 fruits. (This one can be a little difficult at times. Our budget gets stretched due to meds, etc. and some days we only get one fruit serving. Waste not, want not.)
5. Eat 2 complex carbs. (Due to my diabetes, my wife and I try our best to minimize the number of simple carbs. each day.)
6. Write in a journal. (This one is a "given". Due to my COPD, the oxygen levels to my brain will go down during day/night. When this happens I increase Trilogy ventilator and sometimes wife adjust oxygen inflow per doctor. Due to lack of oxygen, my memory can be lost or scrambled. (I can watch the same tv show for days on end and it is almost always new to me. LOL) Because of memory gaps, I have to take time and write down in a journal about every 5 - 15 minutes to keep track as to who I am, what I did, etc.
7. Take a walk (Sorry. I would love to be able to walk, but that is a long-term goal. (Maybe when GOD takes me into heaven.)
8. Avoid using negative words that could discourage you (Have to be positive, even when you are on your back staring at the ceiling.)

There are a lot more, but I'll save them for later.
Remember you are never alone.
You are where you are at, at the right time for a purpose that only you can do.
You can do all things through Christ.

May GOD bless you and yours, and may GOD provide all your needs.
