Sabotage or confrontation? Going beyond the head games!

Hi All!

I'm kinda jumping around the Beck book. I'm putting a lot of effort into MINDFUL eating, focusing on my six "fuelings" per day with 80 grams of protein. I noted that I was getting a bit lax. I have learned and been practicing distinguishing the difference between "true hunger" or just head hunger, as well as thirst. My rule has been to look at my meal timings and not play games and definitely not have extended meal times turning into hours of mindless snacking!

I guess I'm concerned that that could be a self sabotaging behavior that I want to nip in the bud. Which is the whole reason for this semi out in the open discussion.

I am noticing that I am tending to go up and down weight-wise a pound or less - but week to week, I am down and loosing inches all over. My new pants are getting loose!

Did I mention that the bariatric surgeon said he's satisfied as long as I keep my BMI under 30, but that I probably shouldn't go under 180 pounds. I think I'd like to stay within a 180-185 range. That way I'll have a buffer to catch any problem behavior AND CORRECT IT before there is any real damage.

Any thoughts, dear reader(s)?

    I have been mindfully eating since the first part of September and have done better than I did all Summer. I have been losing regularly so far I think I gained like point something since my other challenge started where I am listed as just honorary.

    I used to have the Beck book years and years ago. I recently went and purchased all 4 of them on Ebay listed as new got them all for about 12.00 total and free shipping. I am doing the same jumping around when I get the chance taking what I can from it. It is a very good book just has been so long since reading it.

    I keep my weight within +/- 5 lbs . . . and know I need to get back to basics if it varies either way!

    Your experience sounds pretty close to mine, with different specific numbers. I've hovered withing 4 pounds uo-down all summer. Now, the range I'm hovering in is down about 2 pounds from the summer's plateau. But the main points are (1) it's down over all, and (2) hovering is not gaining - it's remaining more or less constant.

    Sounds like you have a great food and exercise plan, and at a healthy weight.

    Eating your meals / snacks mindfully is very beneficial.
    As long as you notice every bite at mealtime, and you don't have unplanned bites here and there, you will be fine.
