Cholestrol and Vitamin D
Thursday, August 29, 2019
Hi everyone, especially my friends in " Determined Daisy" Team.
I have not written a blog for a very long time and this is my 2nd blog ever.
I had my blood work checked last week on August 24, 2019 and the doctors office called Monday and said my cholesterol is way too high and my vitamin D is too low.
Being summertime a person's Vitamin D is usually higher than in the winter. This is due to the fact that most of us get more sun in the summer. But mine Vitamin D is very low and I have been taking a tablet of 1000 mg per day all year.
In Canada there is a difference of how these two: - Cholesterol and Vitamin D are calculated. So I'm not sure how the reading would be anywhere else.
My vitamin D is 42 and the normal is 75 -250
My cholesterol is 9.7 but not sure what the normal is, just know that it should be under 6.
So.. now I am worried and very concerned and must get both of these readings down. The doctor will see me and take another blood test end of October.
As most of my team may know I haven't been as active as I used to be, as I had my left knee replaced in November of 2018 and my right knee replaced April of 2019, but I have been getting better and more mobile every day.
The doctor told me to cut down on any processed foods, ( we never eat much of these) add more fish, like salmon, tuna, mackerel and eat mushrooms.
Doctor also wants me to up my vitamin D tablets to 2000 mg per day.
These are my plans since Monday, when I found out about the health problems.
As well as watching my food intake even more than I have been: I will be carefully planning my food each day, (with my husband as he is my ROCK) and he usually does most of the cooking and helps me with with everything. He retired a few years ago and I plan to retire in 2 years.
For exercise I will be starting back to my swim aerobics in September going 2 times a week.
I have been biking on a stationary bike daily, 15 minutes every day and will now bike 30 minutes per day. I need to continue with all my knee exercises too.
I have started going on walks daily just recently, as I am still healing and so I walk very slow but will get faster as my knees heal and will try and go a bit further each day.
Well if anyone has any ideas for me pleased let me know.
