In1967 I came home from my first year of college (seminary) weighing 242 or more pounds an$i saw my doctor who put me on a diet with diet pills. I was 19 at the time and dove into the challenge. I kept theGospel according to St Calorie as the family called my food diary. I recorded everything that went into my mouth.

I worked and exercised by repainting the outside of my grandparents house, re tarred the roof etc etc. did I mention that amphetamines were popular back then. I really worked hard at my diet and made steady progress.

By the time I went back to school in September, I got down to 171. I held at that weight even on College Seminary food - los of starch, gravy etc! By Christmas break I still couldn’t get rid of the extra pound. So the doctor said I guess this is meant to be your adult weight.

I have been working the last seven years to change my thinking and eating habits to get healthy again and be able to live life fully. Two weeks ago I had the major surgery to remove the excess skin and repair the bilateral hernias which were revealed after keeping my goal weight for over two years.

Well today I weighed in - 171.4 ! It didn’t strike me until later this afternoon that I realized that I’m back to my college weight when Dr Bloomsma said I should hold this current healthy adult weight.

I am rather proud, pleased, overjoyed etc etc etc! Now can I help you dear reader reach your healthy goals too ?

PS. Pictures will follow after my stitches and glue and the rest of the swelling go down a little more. A friend compared me to Dr Frankenstein’s mister when I asked him what I looked like! I was cut ALL THE WAY AROUND!
