First Rides of the Season
Sunday, March 14, 2021
Last week finally opened up a few perfect days for bike riding and I just couldn't let them pass without getting on my bike no matter HOW outta shape I've allowed myself to get.
They were itty-bitty rides of around 15 miles I had just enough time to dash out there for each ride, due to client telehealth cancellations. Having to make a deadline kept me pumping my best, no slacking or smelling the roses...just yet!
Jello legs afterward, but very satisfying rides! Stepping away from the judgment zone and just accepting that my riding season has begun!
Other updates: Vaccine shot #1 of 2 Pfizer vaccines done last week, #2 coming on 3/31. Of course this brings up lots of horse-getting-outta-the-barn fun discussions & plans about where we're travelling and when, woo hoo!
But some health matters are pending also. I've kicked my cataract surgery down the road as I wanted my vaccine first, so that'll be in May. Another more serious matter to explore as I'm getting friendly nudges from a guitar-playing, bike riding friend who has heard enough of my grumbles about my achey-breaky hip whenever I do my 3 mile walks back & forth between my home & office: look into hip replacement. "You only have so many years on this planet," he says, "how much more time are you going to let this hip hold you back from enjoying it to the fullest?" He had his hip replaced, swears it's better than the original equipment! So yeah, as the song says, "ain't wasting time no more!"
I'll close by sharing feedback I left on Watermellen's blog asking members to contribute their best advice, keep 'er Sparkin' everyone!
Do Unto Yourself as Your Would Do Unto Others
Most of us can be so kind, loving and accepting to people who matter. Well guess what?
WE have to matter to OURSELVES TOO!
In fact, when we can step away from the judgment zone, kick the finger-wagging, guilt-inducing gremlin off our shoulders and get out of our own way...guess what? We have all the MORE loving kindness & acceptance to spread around for ourselves and others too!
Mistakes are opportunities for learning. We are all Experiments of One. Keep learning, be accepting...like John Legend says in his song sing it to Ourselves, now, not only to our Beloved: All of Me loves All of ME, my curves and my edges, my perfect imperfections!
