So, How Was Red Lobster?

Saturday, April 10, 2021

Inquiring minds have asked me that, so here it is. It was fun, wonderful and surreal after being unable to dine in over a year. You sometimes truly don't know what you have until it's gone - like freedom, for instance.

The restaurant was very clean. Everyone distanced. Not crowded. Menus, salt and pepper, etc, in disposable form as not to be handled by many. Menu items were limited and more expensive, as I expected since they are all struggling after this pandemic. Also had to leave name and number at the front desk in the event that contact tracing was needed. This is required by the city. Manager assured us that they haven't had any cases at all.

Food was delish and I so enjoyed being able to be there again. It was a celebration lunch with a friend; we were celebrating my having made the best decision for my current situation.

Today I am meeting with a friend who is going to share her experience and give some friendly advice. It is all part of the prep work I am doing for the tentative May 11 surgery. I know everyone's experience is different, so I will factor that into the equation. On Wednesday I am taking a webinar course that will overview everything.

Wishing all a happy, healthy day.

p.s. and the cheese biscuits were tiny

Glad you enjoyed dining out. We took our son to Reb Lobster this weekend as we were visiting him for Honor's weekend. It was wonderful. I tried the new Kung Pao noodles with chicken, and it was divine. What did you have?

So glad you were able to get out.
That contact tracing is a very good idea.

You are so right about appreciating things at a whole different level after spending a year at home! Glad the Red Lobster trip was both safe and delicious. It somehow lifts the spirits just to be able to enjoy a meal in a restaurant!

So glad you enjoyed your dining-out experience - I am really looking forward to it for my birthday celebration. Yes, it's good to gather ideas from someone who's been through the same procedure. Even though it's different for each person, you can get some tips that might help you!

Sounds like a good experience! Yes, the prices are higher, and there's a time limit on how long you can stay, but just once in a while it's nice to be able to indulge your taste buds eating out.

And good for you getting together w/a friend who's been through the procedure. That's the best source of information. And of course, as you say, everyone's experience is a little different. BUT it gives you some ideas of what to expect and that's all good.

I have eaten at Perkins twice in the last year, both in the last 2 months. Was really nice to be waited on and not have to do the dishes. Hope to be able to do it some more. emoticon

I, too, went out to a restaurant for the first time since pandemic began last week! I went out with a few friends and it was lovely and everything just felt so normal chatting with my friends and having dinner. The food took forever to get to the table but I so did not care.

I am glad you are still do research and are finding more information. The more you know the better.

I’m so glad you were able to enjoy yourself. Tiny cheese biscuits are a good thing. I’ve eaten out a few times and they have all done a very good job with sanitation and distance. The prices were astronomical but that was expected. We also have time limits since they can only serve so many guests.

I haven't dined out since the lull after the first wave! I miss patio beers!!

I had no idea that things would change that much once restaurants opened back up. I will miss it less now as I was craving Red Lobster. I can wait.

That is so wonderful to hear, my friend
Dining out is certainly something we will appreciate much more henceforth.
I met my two BFFs at an outdoor restaurant by the sea yesterday and it was a fabulous sunny day and we had an amazing time.
Tonight we’re going over to Newport to a different friends’ house for dinner and we may just eat Inside if it’s too cold to eat out on their patio as we are all three or four weeks past our full vaccination.
There may even be a hug or two involved.
    Have a grrreat weekend!

Glad you got to be with friends and enjoy life again. Great you are getting so many resources of information to be prepared on what to expect. I have my calendar marked in May 11 for your surgery to be praying that day

It sounds wonderful! My husband and I were able to dine out a couple times back in May when they opened things up, but it didn't last long and things were shut down again. Every thing has been opened again for a couple months, but the cases are so high again we haven't wanted to chance it. Our numbers are right back where they were back when the pandemic started, maybe even higher.

    Have a great weekend!

I am glad you enjoyed your experience dining out.
I didn't have as enjoyable experience trying out our new Olive Garden post pandemic. We went in the evening so expensive pricing. I had my favorite pasta, alfredo pasta with chicken. I had been to another of this restaurant in another city so knew what to expect. Didn't get it. The chicken was some pressed partially fake meat (I think soy and some chicken is what they do) and it tasted like rubber and had that consistency and the serving size was probably 1/3 what you used to get, so no take home leftovers.
Contrast this with our favorite Asian places -same full portions, still low prices -imagine a huge noodle bowl with a Vietnamese roll for only $5.95, can't beat that, don't know how they do it! We are sticking with them for sure.
