So, sometime in the past few weeks my mindset has really adjusted, and I am suddenly VERY ready to retire! I'm going to meet with CalPERS on Thursday to nail down an exact date, but it'll probably be end of September.
But of course, I can't start short-timing it quite yet! Too much work to do....
We had dinner with friends on Saturday night, which was sooooo nice (we've all had two shots, though we're not all out of the two weeks so we kept it outside, and no hugs). It was just so nice to hang out with them in person after more than a year! Incredible to feel like we can start doing that kind of thing again.
Got my hair done yesterday. Kind of bummed because I'm really ready to go gray, so I told my stylist let's just do it, cold turkey. But she explained that she really needs to me to grow it out several inches first. Apparently there are different shades and tones of gray, plus you could be white or salt-and-pepper or whatever. So I'd have to bite the bullet and live with a "skunk stripe" on top of the my head for a couple months or so, then we could bleach it and dye it silver or whatever. So I'm thinking I may wait till I retire, because the thought of looking at a skunk stripe in every Zoom meeting I do is not pretty!
Anyhow, these are two "brunette to gray" pics I pulled off Pinterest that I"m particularly partial to....I really love the first one:
So, stay tuned. But yes, I'll probably have to gut it out a while longer. I really don't love my hair right now...we've been lightening it to try to help disguise the gray, but blonde really doesn't look good on me, it washes me out.
Anyhow.....my weigh-in was exactly the same again...almost weird how level I"m staying, though it's always better than going up. But at some point I'd like to go down again! Maybe when I get to little less stressful work period.
In the meantime, I'm feeling back to 100% so I got a nearly-5-mile walk in today. I got my second shot on Friday and I was definitely not feeling great on Saturday, achy and tired, so I skipped the workout. I felt better yesterday and got an 11-mile bike ride in but nothing stunning. So a good walk this morning felt good.
Okay, enough procrastinating, back to work. Happy Monday!
