Moving Forward: Time to TRAVEL!
Wednesday, June 09, 2021
Over the years my 3 younger sisters and I (yep, I'm the oldest) have led lives and pursued interests and experiences that resulted in spreading ourselves about as far and wide as a family can drift in the USA: I'm in upstate New York (Binghamton). One sister lives in San Diego, CA; another in Anchorage, AK and the third lives near my parents in southwest Michigan where we grew up, after moving away from Chicago where I spent my early grade school years.
Next week all 4 of us are meeting up in Chicago to see the Van Gogh exhibit everyone is talking about! After a year of COVID lockdown, like everyone else who's been vaccinated, we're SO craving real people connection and eager to see each other!
I've been steady with my weight management throughout these virus-challenged times and even managed to break through my 210 lower number, scoring 209 this morning. Something I've only done a few times over the past ten years.
A lesson I've learned over the years has been to apply the Serenity Prayer during chaotic, challenging times. There is a whole UNIVERSE of stuff that is beyond our control during these times.
But you know what is ALWAYS under our control?
1) Our breath...slow, deep, mindful breaths filled with gratitude for the miracle of one's body and all that it can do.
2) Our body...revving up for walks, bike rides, gardening, lawn mowing, snow shoveling. We can always choose to move our body in a way that brings pleasure.
3) Our food...we always, ALWAYS have control over what we put into our body.
4) Our degree of heartfelt, meaningful connection to people who matter to us.
I find during times of chaos I feel SO much better when I maintain laser-like focus over these aspects of life that are always, always under our control. This can be our bedrock throughout our lives.
We've all learned so much from each other here among our SparkFamily. Take these important life lessons with you as we move forward to the future.
Thank you everyone for all the support we've exchanged over the years.
It's such a win-win, both giving and receiving such invaluable gifts!
Keep the SPARK!
