June 19, 2021 WILLING TO GIVE

We know people who will go out of their way to give to others. They seek situations where they can give their time, their money and their talents to help others. Their actions help those who are struggling and suffering; however, their actions also show others the importance of being a faithful servant of God. Giving to others is a benefit to the giver, the receiver and those who see it. Giving affects others but does not affect God at all.

When we do good or bad, it affects other humans. Not God. God doesn’t want us to do good for His benefit but for the benefit of others. When we do good to others, we have opportunities to give them more than just material things they need. We can share God’s word and His love with them. When we have faith in God knowing He will provide for us in all things, we will be more willing to give.

Job 35:6-8 “If you sin, how does that affect God? Even if you sin again and again, what effect will it have on him? If you are good, is this some great gift to him? What could you possibly give him? No, your sins affect only people like yourself, and your good deeds also affect only humans.” (NLT)

1. Write what you do to give to others.
2. List those you know who are in some type of need.
3. Know God wants you to give to others even when it is not convenient.
4. Seek opportunities to give to show your faith in God.

Dear Lord, we are extremely grateful for the opportunities You offer to us so we can give to others. You have blessed us in many ways. We have more than we need. We have talents and abilities to help. We have time we can spend with others. Show us where we can give more and serve as Jesus served. We know there is nothing we can give to You because everything we have is Yours. Remind us, today, to share what You have blessed us with to help others. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

James 1:27 “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” (NLT)

Galatians 5:14 “For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (NLT)

Mark 10:45 “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” (NLT)
