Got a picture of my puzzle and put it on FB as none of my pictures turn out right here on SP.

Glad there has been a few cool days there. And we are missing them. We are having the cold days. (lol) But next week it will be at least 4 days of 60 and I am sure we will see people out in their shorts and short sleeves.

Oh wait, P.S.

Shadow has decided pulling on the choke chain is a bad idea, she was not doing that this morning at all. Even with incentive in the form of other things that would have triggered it yesterday. So that did work. Thank God!! Blessing of the day.

Another day has gone and it seems to be the same as the past few days. Forgot to take a picture of my puzzle and had made it readied for mod podge but didn't do that .Found a recipe for hot chocolate mix. Really good on cold nights. Did a few routine things to fill out the day.

Leslie - Yorkie

My friend / neighbor's Yorkie is just now going through the signs of possible blindness or cataracts that are common in most breeds of Yorkshire Terriers. Her dog has not been diagnosed with diabetes but it is a possibility that she already has it.

At 12 years and having surgery can be risky and another big blow added to your friends wows. Your friend is going thru so much and if she is an animal lover as you and I are - she really cares for her baby.

It sounds like she is pretty good at nursing him. Is Boss on insulin? Monitoring the insulin and diet is the most important thing in my opinion at his age and vet check ups. The life span of this breed of dog is 12 to 15 years - so in my opinion I wouldn't chance the surgery but make him comfortable by monitoring his sugar level and diet and most important making his surroundings safe to prevent any bumps, hits or falls.

Dr. Marcy's opinion only!!!! Wanna be doctor!!

question from a friend who has a 12 year old little teeny dog with diabetes who just became blind. She is considering taking him to Houston to look at doing something about his retinas? She called to ask me if I had ever had a blind dog. This woman is so attached to this little dog, and she lost one of her brothers to covid, plus has another brother who had it and was hospitalized, physically recovered but is Damaged big time by the experience, he told her all he can hear when he tries to sleep is the other patients in the hospital calling desperately for help. Anyway her dogs name is Boss, and she is crazy attached to him. His blood sugars are very difficult to control even though she is maybe the best nurse I have ever run across. I am desperately trying to remember the breed of Boss? AHA, google helped me he is a yorkshire terrier. She says being blind is scary for him, and asks if he will adjust.

Marcy, you deserve the outdoor AC :) Your pictures just get better all the time, the closeups you get are incredible.

I have had no luck applying for a Dog adoption. Sure are some cute ones in TX but I would only consider out of State if they are already here. Small dogs are flying off the page within a few days to a week. That makes me feel good, but after this week, I will stop trying. Hoping our shelters start letting people back in to see, most are in Foster Care.
I think down the road I may end up buying a puppy again. My kids are in line for it or them if anything happens to us.
It just takes Work to raise a puppy for a year. House breaking, manners, chewing, sit and stay commands. LOL
The one I want is too much $$ its a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel. Sooooo darn cute and gentle. but spendy. Sorta thinking of a long haired Chi. Anyone had one??

OK off to take a nap, wore myself out at the gym today, keeping social distance and wearing mask 6' to 17' apart depending on room and class. Only 10 to a class.
if a small room only 6 to a class. More classes are coming on the next month, just earlier, so not for me, I can't be there at 6:30am LOL

I need to join Becky on the journal!
And Wow is it nice and cool this morning. I have some windows open trying to kind of air out the house.
I had to chuckle about the puzzle, we got a very challenging one at the beginning of this "stay at home" phase and started out trying to put it together. It was not long until a couple of pieces somehow got knocked off the table and the dogs ate them immediately (anything that falls from the table must be food?)
It is in the junk room now. I ADMIRE anyone who can actually finish a puzzle.
YAY FERN!!
And yeah, let the man cook!

I saw that the temp was 66 on our phones for your afternoon! We did get to a low of 12 last night but things are looking a little more rosy as the week ends. A few days in the low 50's

Got out tree branch cut down for our DD at her workplace. The wind was blowing and really cold. Did more branches while Roger used the chain saw.. Then off to shopping and spent lots of money. Of course I forgot my shopping list so a couple things got doubled as I didn't need them but did get most of what was on it.

Oh yes, I did my puzzle completed tonight!! It's beautiful but a true pain to get it together. Too dark to try for a picture.

Fern, welcome back home! It does get to be a long haul when you are gone for health reasons. Let hubby do the work he wants with cooking. Your time will come soon. Until then rest and do the exercises you have been given in rehab.

Nothing new from this corner except more record setting temps coming to us tonight and tomorrow. I do believe Oct. will be setting the most new records for the month. I think there are 6 right now between snow and cold.

Fern - so glad to see you here!!! Let your husband cook all he wants and yes in time you could make the meals together!!!

You take it easy (as you tell me!!) please don't over do it (as you tell me!! lol)

Becky - you can do! Eat a good meal in the evening (if your an late owl like me) and then a piece of fruit. That's what I have been doing.

Once I close up the kitchen / then bird room - I never return till the morning and food is never allowed past the kitchen!!! You know my house and all it's sliding doors!!! I guess I could always nibble on cat food!!!

Well I am so depressed. I have been avoiding the scale but today I faced it. Not good. Even though I am walking I guess the bored eating is all going to my hips. I need to get back on track. Back to basic. Journal, no sugar.

Day 1 journal day 1 no sugar.

I am good during the day. It is late night when I want sugar. I think I need to go to bed early when I feel the sugar monster coming.

HI gals. It's so good to be home. Hubbby won't let me cook yet he says he has to have something to do. I told him may in a week or so we could do it together. WE'll see. My arms and hands sure are sore. They were bad before the surgery but now they are worst. I'm about 90%
back to normal. Thank the LORD!

Our yard looks real good. Hubby is very happy with it. The brick will be much easier to keep clean. Please take care and God Bless! Hugs Fern

Brrrr. But it's possibility of single digits around the corner. BUT if we can hurry to Halloween, it could be 48!!

I actually sit by a window to do my puzzle and can feel the cold coming in. Guess we live in the area of MN. where it's normal, just too early.

I think you can tell we haven't been doing anything. Watching some movies and football and whatever! I did get mom's grocery list so that's the next thing I will get ordered. Such a huge job.

Wow Eileen - nice temperatures!!!! We did get our cool front as Leslie mentioned - it was a beautiful day - I actually got a little chilled when I went to the Fall Master Gardeners Plant Sale as it was out it the open area. Well my hands got cold - my friend that went with me was laughing because I had the AC full blast in the car and my hands didn't get cold till I was outside!!

Leslie - good idea not walking both dogs and using a cane - those leashes can throw you down....(clearing throat) I talk from experience!!!!

Yvonne - what beautiful flowers for FERN!!!!

Computer time might be hard for her for now - I'll call her tomorrow to see how she is doing.

Hi all
Great news FERN is home? Friday? I am sure her DH is happy. I hope they take advantage of home PT or visiting nurse that comes out weekly to check up on her.
Those services are in place for us to take advantage of.
Our weather is gray, damp, cool/cold. This whole week will be late night 30's and day time 50's.
Trying to stay busy, hope you all are also.

Ha and I am so grateful for this morning's lower 70s

NICE walk this morning.

One benefit of the injury to Shadow's foot is that since I cannot let her run in the back yard, I have been getting all kinds of steps walking both dogs (Pogo would be very very envious if I only walked Shadow and asked him to go in the yard by himself, but I have to walk them one at a time to be sure I don't fall)

I am even carrying a cane. To be double sure I don't fall.

Yes, we have seen the Northern lights a few times. Awesome and beautiful

I think MN. is working on setting new records mega times. Our temp tonight is going down to 19 actual degree which we never see in Oct. Highs are staying in the low 30's for at least another week. Snowed today so got the record for total Oct. snow fall. Sun. early, early AM another snowfall!

Keep falling asleep so need to keep going.

How can they not force the students to wear masks? That's calling for major trouble.
I forget is this San Benito or Brownsville?

You are going to have to be very careful being around her after she returns.

Does she have one of those shield guards?????

So many teachers have been quitting and taking early retirements because of that. So sad.

I was a very hot and humid day here yesterday. I sure hope that this painful migraine is a sign of a good rain fall in front of the "front" that is expected.

We had an interesting weather phenomena this morning. When I got us the skies were tinted green. That is usually a sign of hail in the air. The cloud were so low the color radiated. Then all of a sudden turned white like very low clouds. Next minute the sky was orange. A beautiful sunset orange. What was happening here was the clouds being so low, the tree leaf colors reflected into them as well as the fires in CO. And then to show of colors was over only after a second wave of orange coming through. So fun to watch. Almost like watching that arura borialis. (Northern lights)

We had snow flurries, mist and ice today. Tomorrow we might get to see the sun in the afternoon. Otherwise it was a quiet day.

You know I am SO looking forward to next Tuesday when it is supposed to be a high in the 90's with a low of 60's, then wed. high of 77, but if it were 34 all day long I would probably never get out of bed, and the heater would be near my feet. I have traveled to areas that are cold before, and I get a kick out of it for the first 5 or 10 minutes, then I suffer. My blood is Thin.

Good deal that Fern is getting better and going to be able to come out of rehab soon. Yay.

Susan has to go back to her classroom next week full time, but the students are not going to come in until the first week of November. They say that the students won't be required to wear masks. That they cannot do that. With high school students. I am trying to have faith that she is going to be okay, and will live through it if she catches that stuff. She has all the risk factors as I am sure I have said before. I need to not think about it.

Temp stayed at 34 all day so no melt but the snow is so heavy that it's packed itself down. Roads clear and dry until tomorrow when we will have rain and ice. What a month and I do wonder about staying here until maybe Jan. 1st. Might not be able to get out.

So glad you have heard from Fern! And happy she is sounding so well and eager to get out of rehab. Been sending prayers her way every day.

2 loads of laundry today and making dinner. That's all I have done. Did work on my puzzle and I am closer to being done. It's a bugger and will be glued when done.

Maybe an OLD sock cut strips in the top so it can be tied around her neck. ??

Hi Girls.
Hope the week is being kind to you.
I was hoping to see if Fern posted from rehab. Should be soon she may be home?

Puppy and pills. My Pom has a small mouth and when I had to give pills I would dip one dob of sour cream or yogurt on my finger put the pill or Half of the pill (IF too large) and stick it down her throat. Close her mouth and pet her throat. IF she somehow kept it in her mouth, we would repeat.
If it was 1/2 the pill I would do it again with the other half and the Treat afterwards was a spoon of yogurt.
I hate giving dogs pills, even those pill pouch treats don't work for me, if she was a big dog, it would swallow them whole. But Little ones its usually Chew it, discover it has a pill in the pouch and not trust me Again with the treat.

Hope her foot heals quickly, I know that can be painful.

I have seen several dogs at rescue on Petfinders that are in TX. I would love to see them, but not going to pay shipping cost. I will find on around here someday, Tx ships a lot of dogs to WA. OR, and ?? forgot the 3rd State.

Off to clean house before comcast comes to fix our bad connections.
Hope I get a new Router out of it.

Eileen - I would just like to be there as quick as "Jeannie" - wiggle my nose!!!

I have never driven in snow - or have I - the tiny ' tiny snow we had here - I can say that I have!!

So glad Shadow is doing better - as long as there isn't any infection -

Talked to FERN today!!!
She sounded so much better than the last time. She will be released from Rehab this Friday, she can hardly wait!!! She has been able to see Chuck about 8 feet or more apart for short visits when he brings her clean clothes. Yesterday they wheeled her outside for fresh air and she really enjoyed that!

I have a watch that I got as a promo with my last phone Marcy, and I never used it much, but since Amber wanted and uses the fitbit, I am dealing :).

Eileen your post gave me a giant smile as I was considering trying to drive in something like that which would bring up all kinds of stereotypical jokes about people from the South driving..... You said Marcy would turn around? That put this picture in my mind of me Trying to turn around. Thank you for the morning smile !

We are supposed to get a little cooler briefly next Tuesday.

Shadow was re bandaged by Dr Missy yesterday and it stayed on for a total of about 20 minutes. She did not care for how Missy did it, or she was just done with bandages, she had started to eat the other one before Missy came. Anyway, it looks "good" and is not infected, and she still has 10 days of antibiotic. I just let her take it off and I'm keeping a clean sock on it which she is tolerating.

Did a blog on the record snowfall today. We did end up with 7.3" Should mostly melt tomorrow but then rain on Thurs. and another snowfall on Sat. Way to early for this but Marcy, you wanted cool. Can you scoot up here and enjoy for a couple minutes?? You would probably turn around and go back! 340 accidents and 345 spin outs that needed assistance to get going again. That's the 6 PM report. No TV since the wet heavy snow piled on the Dish.

We had a short eye appt. for Roger's new glasses and 1 more eye test so we were out driving about 3-4 miles. Really tough mid afternoon. Plows hadn't kept up with as heavy as it was and that the roads got icy. Made it home and glad to be in the house.

Leslie - so glad Shadow is improving.

What are you using to record your steps? I won't reach my goal today - my chest has really been hurting so - just kinda taking it easy. No yard work.

Could be all the stress - I have another kitty that isn't doing well - need to call to see if they can get her in - if there are any cancelations

Yes, it was extremely hot and humid today - maybe a cool down this weekend?

Eileen - I loved the photos your posted on Facebook of the beautiful snow - I know it's a hassel but still beautiful!!

Well YEAH, we are kind of HOT right now, yes? Ha. Really feeling it because of the extra dog walking several times a day. But boy do I have steps again.

I am going to have to start paying attention to what I put in my mouth again. Gaining some weight. I am not surprised. I was doing well for a while last month but not so well for October.

Back to it.

Yes, Dr. Missy is wonderful for the day to day vet things, not so much for emergencies, but I feel good about the vet who helped us out last Friday. Between the two of them we should be covered. Shadow's thing on her foot is still on but looking worse for wear, and she is gradually becoming herself again after this latest thing.

Leslie - how neat that the doctor could come to make a house call. All gentleness is right with rescues as we never know the full amount that they have endured.

Becky - happy birthday to your husband!!!
Estero - look who came to look at my yard - well after he came to see the amazing Brown Widow - actually a first for him.

Before Ranger John, my neighbor and I checked for the spider I invited him to my back yard / garden!!!! What an honor and an educational visit. So glad I have been working in the yard!!! I have added a Butterfly garden on the South side front yard!!! After viewing Yoli's yard and more of my front yard we went to look for the spider - Yoli was worried that it had left.

So many eggs!!!!

I thought about this when you mentioned how packed Estero was on Saturday - that's exactly what John was telling us - packed!!!! Kinda scary too with so many out. He figured it must have been the cooler weather.

The office building remains closed and you register from the little window once you reach the deck. You can buy items thru the window - but no cash. I went last week around 4ish.

A quiet day today as we watched the snow come falling from the sky! None of this stayed on the grass but tomorrow it may.

Sure glad we weren't heading down the road today for the RGV as Iowa had a mini blizzard and the 2 major highways were closed for a while and they were parking lots with stalled cars. It was I-35 and I-80 which we take both on on travels south. My guess it's the Des Moines area which is where the dreacho went through during the summer.

Leslie glad the paw is doing well and that leashes are usable now as well.

Everything is good here, the bandage thing is staying on the foot, and everyone is getting used to walking on the leash again as opposed to galloping all over the yard.

The yard guy is supposed to come today, hope he makes it.

I am going to do some work on the church stuff today. And hang out here at home.

Dr. Missy should be able to tell us what to do next when she checks on the bandage tomorrow on Shadow's foot. Hopefully it will be healed enough to maybe go without ? Maybe?

It was 29 this AM for a low. Didn't get out of the 30's today and looks like the rest of the week is only in the 30's for highs. This is Nov. weather. Fri. we went for groceries for our family gather on Sat. and it snowed pellets when we came out of the store. Hoping for a little warmer weather in the future as it's going to be a long time for us up here before we are thinking of coming down for a short visit.

Leslie, sounds like your little dog loves it outdoors. I okay with a also wonder about a boot but most dogs don't like them. If he is good with the baggie, a boot may work.

Family gathering yesterday was an all day and evening event. The grands were having a wonderful time playing games with some of us adults. Good eats, good talks and more bonding.

I everyone. Had a quick week. Went walking at Estreo most mornings.

On Saturday the parking lot was full of cars. OMG so many people. I am used to having the park to myself. The dogs were too excited. I guess the cool air made them wild. Ended up going to the dog park and there were 8 dogs there. Usually no dogs. I was glad the dogs played nice with other dogs. My daughters dog really enjoyed running with others.

Today we are celebrating DH B day. Just a small family dinner.

Leslie sorry to hear about your dog. I hope he gets used to the doggy bootie.

Eileen glad to hear the weather up north is getting cooler. Wish we had some more days of Fall.

Marcy the park office at Estero has been closed. Have you heard anything? I have been seeing hawks in the sky or are they vultures. How have your classes been going?

I am an intelligent person.
I will control my emotions and not let my emotions control me.

We need each other.
