I continue my prayers for those who are suffering this horrible spinal pain. I had it for years, was not a candidate for surgery. The doctors said my weight and valvular heard disease stopped that. So I cried and screamed and lived trough it. Then I had 2 compression fractures 3 years ago. They said my pain was intractable and I should check into a nursing home. But I didn't. I continued to cry with constant back and leg spasms. Had to learn to stand and walk again. Not fun, Don't wish this on anyone. Spasms have let up for the most part. I still get them but not like I used to. But with my total cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral spine involved, it is what I live with. I move as much as I can. I have learned some tricks to break the spasms. Some days it slaps me around and I have to rest. Will I ever get better? Don't know but I know every day I can get up walk around and get some things done I look at it as a great day. I am very grateful for what I can do.

I am so terrified to have spinal surgery. But, I have degenerative disk disease. I live in constant unbearable pain 24/7. I hardly sleep anymore.. who can sleep with such agony?
I just joined this group this morning.

I had a very severe motorcycle accident in 1985. The physical impact of slamming to the pavement at a 70mph impact has caught up with me physically, it was very traumatic to my body. Really, I should not have even lived! But Ill tell everyone it was a miracle of GOD I did.

Everything hurts so bad now, and it has progressed severly in the last 2 years at the speed of light.
I have to have a complete knee replacement Nov. 23rd. And then the same with the other knee. I believe I do need spinal surgery but, am so afraid. Im even scared about my knee replacements coming up. My body is wasted, because someone hit me on my motorcycle, and no amount of money in this world, including the money I got from the accident, could ever make me better.
Sorry my post is too long.

It sounds like you have well and truly been in the wars. Sorry to hear that you are requiring more surgery and the health issue that has been discovered.

Have you asked your health team who works with those in back braces how best to clean them?

Good luck,
Kris

So sorry to hear about your up coming back surgeries. Thus far I have not had back surgery and have been trying everything to avoid it, so I wouldn't have any advice for you.

Take care and hang in there... I can only empathize with the pain you must be suffering with at this time. Good luck!

I'm in the process of preparing for my second spinal surgery. I fell and did damage to the hardware in my back, plus damage above the lumbar area now, so they will fuse the spine through the bottom 2 sections in a 2-part surgery. To add to this, though, during my hospital entrance exam, they found that there may be something going on with my heart, which will have to be dealt with first. It just seems that it's endless.
I had my first spinal surgery in 2012. It took me 2 years to get over that one. I'm not getting any younger, so I'm a little worried. I'm wearing a back brace, but that's another story! It drives me crazy! I need advice on handwashing this brace and getting it dry without taking it off when I'm awake.
